**Brown Class of 2020 RD applicant thread**

@violintigress all the Ivies are releasing at 5 PM EDT

Hello all! I wanted to stop by and introduce myself because I got a likely letter from Brown this month! I didn’t actually know anything about Brown besides the Open Curriculum before I applied, but over the process of researching the school and doing an interview (had a fantastic interviewer who was definitely on the same wave length as me!), I’ve realized that Brown is such a perfect place for me—I honestly think it’s my activism and strong passion for a few causes that helped me get my likely letter! Anyway, I look forward to hearing good news from all of you and I hope that you all can help me learn more about my future school!

@RandomRhino I remember you for the Harvard SCEA thread!! I also got a ll from brown! Nice to see you popping in!

I’ll be a burrito of sadness. Going to cocoon in the safety of my donut box at 5pm on the 31st

Do you guys know anything about a student’s chances if someone from their high school already got in this year? A student in my grade got in ED and I’ve heard rumors Brown (and most elite universities) don’t take more than one student from the same school for the most part. He’s in engineering and I’m in the humanities if that matters

For my school (which is a competitive public school in Vermont) Brown usually takes 3-4 just bc other schools in Vermont aren’t that good and they know that they’ll get the best applicants from my school. @stressedblessed

@stressedblessed - My school has a graduating class of about 90 and Columbia took 3 of us. We’re not particularly incredibly elite; they hadn’t accepted anyone from here in I believe the past 3 years. Honestly, it’s based on you, not your classmates.

My applicant portal has a link to select classes… anyone know if this means anything?

@tuty143 What are the odds of seeing you here even after my very long extended break?! I remember how bleak things looked back in December but it looks like we found an amazing school that wants us back too!

hahahahaha nobody has ever gotten into Brown from my school (that I know of). We have one alumni at Columbia, one at Harvard, one graduated from Stanford…that’s it. I’m also the only one applying this year, but that won’t make much of a difference except make it harder for them to compare me since we also don’t rank. Hooray.

I don’t remember whether I posted this or not, but here is a link to the RD results thread for two weeks from now:

@wonderlanddd I’m in the same boat regarding Brown; I’m hoping to break my school’s unlucky mold as well!

@aBitOfLuck Will definitely have to add myself to that next month (preferably when all my friends stop checking CC and could find me lol)

I’m actually getting more anxious as we get closer, which I didn’t think was possible.

We have two kids at Cornell, but that’s it. No ivies from my school

Oh hey there @schroscat! Long time no see!

My school doesn’t have a history of Ivy League or very highly selective acceptances, but for some reason my grade this year has really been breaking that trend! It’s shocking actually

We got 4 Cornell (diversity likelies), 1 Yale, 2 Columbia so far. Hopefully I get to add to that, but Brown and Penn have a bad history of recruitment from our school.

@RandomRhino Nice to see you as well!

I hope to break the trend. I’m really trying all my chances, but after meeting you guys, I think my application was probably thrown out the window.

@tuty143 Hey! I remember you from the Harvard SCEA thread! I just saw that you got a likely letter, that’s amazing!

@schroscat @RandomRhino Ahh long time, no see from the Harvard SCEA thread! How’s it going?
