Brown Class of 2022 Applicants Discussion

@nrtlax33 Thanks!! That’s cool that you kept track of me. Thanks for all your help back in February!

Rejected.
Rejected also Yale, Bowdoin , Dartmouth
Waitlist at Amherst and Wesleyan
Accepted Haverford, Midd, Smith, Hamilton, Bates
Didn’t take SAT2s…wasn’t planning Ivy originally.

Waitlisted but accepted at Yale…shoooook!!

Congrats everyone! International student here. I also received the IDOC request but only found out yesterday that I had two unsatisfied requirements in my FA application (imagine the distress). But it all turned out to be fine–accepted! However, I’m not sure how to access my FA decision. Does anyone know where we can attain our Brown ID? Thanks and good luck!

Anyone have figures about waitlisting at Brown last year? Dunno why they wouldn’t publish them after finalizing the classes and all.

Accepted! does anyone know how to appeal financial aid?

Accepted!

VERY STRANGE RESULTS FOR A FRIEND’S KID:
ADMIT: HARVARD, ROCHESTER, NOTRE DAME
DENY: YALE PRINCETON BROWN USC
WAITLIST CORNELL, GEORGETOWN
I AM AT A LOSS FOR WORDS

[/QUOTE]

Similar result with my son, accepted by top tier Universities and LACs, but denied by many second tier colleges. I don’t think it’s a Tufts syndrome, they just do not like his application which is very odd and crazy.

My advice for future applicant is JUST APPLY ALL THE COLLEGES, then decide.

Waitlisted, which I’m fine with. Accepted to UPenn, JHU, U-Mich, Wesleyan, Brandeis, NYU. SAT 1440, WGPA 5.0

@Pelincton : The best way to appeal financial aid is to upload peer offers directly from the portal.

@OldbatesieDoc those are fantastic admits. you don’t need the others with all that! good job!

@Pelincton Log onto your portal, go to financial aid, then undergraduate students, then upload financial aid documents. Click aid year 18/19. Type up you appeal on a document, then select it and upload. They should email you about it but if not go to requirements. I’m ED and have appealed a bunch w/o any luck but good luck anyhow.

My S was deferred by Brown and rejected by Yale. He is moving on and okay with it.

In!

@snaccbrown I found that in 2014 Brown admitted 192 students from wl eventually, which saw a big increase from 2013, which had around 60. It seems that the acceptance rate from wl that year is on par with the overall rd acceptance rate. I couldn’t find any data on the following years.

how do you guys access your financial aid award? I’m trying to see my financial aid status but it requires a “Brown ID Number” in order to sign up. Where do i get this from?

@impressivemediocrity I had to do the live Brown chat. They asked me a bunch of security questions and then gave me the ID number to sign up with.

@sciencenerd123 you are letting yourself be played! the guy did NOT write an essay in one night to get in. he is asserting superiority to you by promulgating a lie. not good in the character department. i speak from experience. i worked on my major grad school essay for two months to get it perfect…a “friend” - upon being told how hard i worked on the essay - proceeded to tell me that she worked on hers the night before it was due, and did it in one draft and how it was so good she got a special award for the best essay in the applicant pool (Sloan School MBA). What a crock! That was the beginning of the end of that so-called friendship, especially when she learned I was admitted to a higher ranking program and told me not to attend because, “Sloan was really challenging for me, so you will never survive where you are going!” I did just fine, btw. It was NOT easy, but I put my foot to the pedal and got through!

Don’t let people like that muck with your head, dude.

Oh, Bowdoin is as good as any school in the country. If you don’t believe it, wait til you experience it and apply to grad schools!

ACCEPTED!
SAT: 1410
ACT: 31
Editor of the newspaper, varsity cross country and track, NHS, SNHS and math tutor
Hispanic female
National Hispanic Recognition Scholar
680 on both subject test
I was also accepted to Northwestern, NYU, Boston U and UT Austin

@cutepug It’s all good dude :). Just venting! Mixed feelings, because I am going to a school that I love but at the same time I was just rejected from the school that deferred me ED. Congrats to all accepted!!! Peace, I’m outta here.
