I didn’t see that anyone else had started a discussion for Brown class of 2024 hopefuls. Brown is my #1 school and I plan on applying ED. This is a good place to go through this entire stressful process together and help each other out.
Good luck to all of you! I hope we all get good news this year.
I’ve been waiting for this thread! I absolutely love Brown, and I wish everyone the best of luck in this process
I’m also planning on applying ED. Wishing everyone here the best of luck!
I’m applying ED too! It’s been my dream school for years, I hope everyone has the best of luck applying!
I have been waiting for this thread for a while as well. @seniorszn20 Thank you very much for creating this group.
Like everyone here who has posted so far, I will be applying ED as well for the Class of 2024. Brown’s been my favorite school for a few years now, and I love the school so much.
I wish you all the best of luck!
Have a nice day.
I’m thinking of applying ED too. I have a question for you guys - did Brown drop the graded paper requirement? I know it was something they required in the past, but I don’t see it on their website anymore.
Good luck to everyone!
@limeaide Hey! Welcome to the group!
The graded paper is not required, but it’s highly recommended. On the bright side, they also accept your SAT Essay and/or ACT Essay score in lieu of a graded paper, so if you did well on either or both of those, those will be to your advantage for the graded paper.
Have a nice day.
Thanks for answering my question and for the welcome! Hope you don’t mind a follow-up: could you point me to the page on their website where they say this? In the past, the website clearly stated that if you don’t submit a SAT/ACT Essay score, then you should submit a graded paper. I don’t see that language anymore.
For example, here is the current page for standardized testing with no mention of the graded paper. Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong place! TIA

I just checked their website, and it really is indeed strange. I remember reading about the graded paper last year on the website, but it’s totally gone from the website, including the section they had on it in the FAQs.
In the end, I’m going to contact one of the counselors at Brown, and I’ll get back to you on if they reply or not. @limeaide
Have a nice day.
@excoverer Thank you - I emailed Brown Admissions and was told that they no longer request that applicants submit a graded paper.
@limeaide Yeah, I got an email with the same answer as well!
Have a nice day.
Good luck everyone! I am also applying to Brown ED for the class of 2024. I’m from California, so I am excited to move to the east coast and experience a new culture in addition to studying at this awesome school.
@clarajuniper The East Coast is fantastic, and I hope you get a chance to come over and see what it’s like.
Have a nice day.
Do you believe it is true that Brown doesnt favor ed applicants over rd applicants as it says on the Brown website?
“Please do not assume that your admission chances are improved by applying under the Early Decision plan. The Board of Admission makes the same decisions under Early Decision that it would under the Regular Decision plan.”
yea, a lot of the ED pool consists of athletes and legacy etc…
i’m applying rd but good luck to all the ed candidates!! hopefully we’ll all end up where we’re meant to be
Thanks for the kind comment. Good luck applying Brown ED! @beautifulchaos
Have a nice day.
Just submitted! Good luck to everyone!!
not applying ED but will be applying RD as it is one of my top choices. good luck!!
Is true the ED admission rate so high because most who apply are athletes & legacy students? That completely changed my perspective about the process (& lowered my hopes of getting in too lol)
