No that is not what the email said. The only thing that is shutting down at 11:59 pm is the checklist. The portal will still be open to submit supplementary materials, and you still can check it out and log on.
thank you, that dude scared the crap out of me
Hi guys,
I just want to say one really quick thing about the IDOC form. I’m like 95% sure ( I’m not an expert so I can’t say lol) that is does not matter at all. It really does just have to do with financial aid.
I didn’t submit my css until like 3 days ago ( thank you to this chat for bringing it up or else I probably never would have!) I did not have an IDOC request so I was low key losing my mind. But after submitting it I did get one this morning.
I only had my FAFSA in, so I think they would have just gone off that for financial aid. The CSS gets more in depth, and for more information they use the IDOC. So I think if they were to offer any financial aid to me they would have just used FAFSA but since the CSS was in they had more info and would be able to make a more informed decision through IDOC. I hope that makes sense
I know I was definetly freaking out about it, but I really think it does come down to strictly financial aid. That’s not to say I’d you did get an IDOC request you have nothing to be happy about. It’s probably a good sign, but I don’t think it means anything if you don’t.
I really hope this helps anyone else who is super nervous feel a little better!!
For what it’s worth I heard that we will hear by Monday when they are going to announce. To be clear they are not announcing by Monday–just letting us know when they will announce. So I am assuming the announcement will be towards the end of next week. I know that doesn’t help much, but the wait will be over soon. Good luck everyone!!!
Just got an email, decisions are coming out December 17th at 2:00 pm Eastern Time
same omg thats too long haha
Ugh why does it have to be at 2:00 PM I’ll still be in class
I agree. This is poorly timed to be released at 2 PM EST. Most of the students in the Central, Mountain, and Pacific time zones will still be in classes.
I’m just not going to check until I get home lol
That’s interesting that it’s releasing at 2 pm EST, since last year it released at 6 pm EST.
For me last year it was like ripping off a band-aid: it might hurt a lot in the moment, but it’s better that you do it than don’t. Good luck!!
Does anyone’s portal still show this? we filled out FAFSA and CSS and applied for aid and no idoc was requested and portal shows below quote. Should I contact financial aid? does this have anything to do with admissions? some posts say they are separate. We applied for aid but likely do not qualify?
"The Office of Financial Aid has not yet started processing applications for the Class of 2025. The individual status of either the [Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)] or CSS can be determined by logging into each website and confirming that the application has been submitted and Brown University was listed as one of the school options. The Office of Financial Aid will be able to confirm receipt of application materials beginning in mid-December 2020. For more information please visit the [Office of Financial Aid
I remember something similar being present in my portal last year, later in December (closer to when decisions release), you’ll have access to Banner Self-Service, which allows you to check the status of all of the documents Brown has received + FA award if admitted.
Hi guys, for some reason my checklist is still available for viewing on my portal, is anyone else still able to see their checklist?
yes I still have access to mine as well.
my checklist is also still available
okay good so is mine. that’s a bit strange, don’t you think? they’re probably just running behind and underestimated the amount of time needed to go through with that transition though
checklist is still there
BTW, did everyone get an email back around Nov 20th about missing documents? saying they were due by Nov 25th.
yes. Scroll up and see prior discussion. Was sent automatically to everyone missing first quarter grades. And also midyear report (which is everyone, obviously).
