Does Brown historically take multiple students from your school? That may give some insight.
No, since another student was admitted ED from my school and I was still admitted RD. It matters more if you fit into their priorities for the class (more of a certain major, with a specific interest, from a certain geographic area etc.) which you canât predict since they change from year to year.
Has anyone here had their non custodial parent waiver approved recently ?
What does everyone see when the FA page is pulled up? I am not sure what specifically means âIDOC requestâ but this is what I see:
My sonâs only has the FAFSA and CSS profile listed. None of the individual documents. And Brown is not listed as a requesting school in his idoc account via CSS. Some other schools did the same wrt only listing FAFSA and CSS and no idoc request. Not sure what any of it means.
I am sure.
I thought IDOC documents werenât necessarily an indicator of acceptance? In past years, even people with these documents were rejected and others without them were acceptedâŠ
Sure it means absolutely nothing, I presume. LOL
I just wanted to know what an IDOC request means. Do we get notified of the request somehow? I mean CSS basically is an app you send all the stuff yourself so not sure where we see a college requesting it. Is that an actual thing? Does his screen mean a request was done? Thanks!
It means the school requested more financial information via CSS Idoc service. I donât think it means anything wrt to admission decision.
Yup
I donât think I am explaining myself well. Is there something that is different if a school requests info versus what we sent via CSS?
CSS sent all the info I thought. Maybe not? We had uploaded a ton of stuff to IDOC for other schools, does brown just use that info?
IDOC is basically a repository for back-up info - tax returns, W2s, etc. Some schools will request from all applicants on top of CSS; some will randomly select some as a checks-and-balances - an audit, if you will.
Regardless, it is not a preview of an admissions decision.
my brown portal only states that the css profile has been satisfied but none of the other stuff is there
Some schools use IDOC to gather tax and financial docs, other schools have their own process. When you first applied for aid you likely had a checklist for 2019 taxes, W2, etc. and uploaded those. So you fulfilled the IDOC request right at the start. Itâs then possible that a school may request more info and would likely do so via IDOC, yes. HoweverâŠit also seems that some peopleâs dates update randomly in the IDOC portal so it may seem like there was activity when there wasnât. Clear as mud? Looks like you are all set on the portal based on the satisfied/waived status.
Thank you, that actually does make a lot of sense. I was trying to break down the differences in the process and where my kid is at, this was super helpful!!!
Will submitting an update or LOCI rn negatively impact my app?
Right now? No, but itâs very likely it will be too late to have an impact. It might be better to save the update info for LOCI if you are offered a waitlist spot.
I agree. A LOCI would not serve you well this late in the game, and would be more effective in the scenario of a waitlist.
