Brown Class of 2026 Waitlist

We are not pursuing the WL. I hope you have a great visit at WashU. It sounds like a great place. Let us know how it goes - DS is more STEM oriented and WashU will likely be in the mix.

DS wrote a LOCI and sent it directly to regional AO email and never got a reply. I’m worried she didn’t get it. Email is right though. Would you attach it to your portal or let it go?

Do it in the portal
We got an email back saying that they are not reviewing emails

Thank you!

Has anyone heard any news about the waitlist? It’s been crickets in here since 4/24.

My DD accepted spot at WashU but is staying on Brown WL.

While we’re under absolutely no impression that the WL is an option she should hold out for, we did hear this from a Brown admissions rep to our school college GC after my DD submitted her letter of continued interest/enthusiasm. They (her school) has done a poor job though bc the only person she had a relationship with left on Apr 7 after 2022 admissions and now our school GC has got no contact. Just fabulous. Not. Lol.

Anyway, just thought I’d pass it on:

Thanks for the info. DS doesn’t have a counselor with any connections to hear anything from - his counselor has her hands full with the kids they try to keep in school, scheduling etc… she has about 400 students that she works with.
There is not a college focused counselor to speak of at his school.
He has committed somewhere else that he is happy with and we have no expectations either.
Fingers crossed anyways
Please post anything else that comes up. Would love to know the status of all this and if people are getting in.

I think it’s really going to come down to that all-important yield - this year has been so chaotic that a lot of people are taking the spots they got. And then some will come down to the profile of someone they’d pull off the waitlist. Not sure my daughter would be a likely pull anyway (maryland private school, no cxns, STEM/comp sci). But she figured she’d stay on bc she has an interest in the open curriculum and was actually put on WL in this brutal year. My guess is they’ll do a first round in next week or two, and then it’s getting close to a done deal. In the meantime, she’s done deposit, filled out housing form, etc. It’s AP Exams this week and next (she has four to take) so she’s distracted anyway. That’s our approach, at least!

Oof. Welp. Passing this on. Not looking encouraging! Glad we filled out housing and made move in plans for her accepted school!

Hi, Has anyone heard about any movement on WL? The Brown article referred to going to WL to finalize the Fall22 class but i am surprised that it has not happened yet.

Nothing here. All the communication my daughter’s gotten is above, both confirmed they’d be going to their WL (though with a dose of “plan on going elsewhere” in the tone) but hadn’t announced anything as of yet.

I hope soon so my DD can move forward even more.

Nothing here either. I wish they would update. I think DS has put it out of his mind since I told him how unlikely it is. It would be nice to know soon.

I agree. An actual closing of a door is different than it still being slightly open, just making everyone neurotic. No peace of mind. I’ve been chipper and enthusiastic about where she’s headed, we bought stuff and are planning, and yet the “but….” lingers unspoken. I know she could remove her name from WL but she doesn’t want to and we left that choice to her, plus we’re of the “why not?” mentality. That was a crazy hard spot to earn this year, she can leave it as an option if she wants. But communicate, colleges, please…

PS. Since the Ivies seem to be big fans of sending comms when you cannot contact them, I’m wondering if Fri pm or Sat might bring something, this weekend or next. Who knows, just conjecture.

Did she enroll at WashU? Last time you were about to visit… How was it?

Yes, she did! And that is a wonderful outcome in my book!

As to the trip out there, the visit was a little off, unfortunately - tour guides and presentations didn’t get her to it being the total “yes.” I could give these schools so much feedback on this process, at this point. Lol. (Vassar had a student-only panel lunch that, to this day, was the best experience. More straight talk and less marketing.)

And it felt a little bigger, overwhelming (was a crowded day) which is why she’s staying on Brown WL. (Remember, her dream school was Williams. She’s sad about not being in the little mountain enclave.) BUT she’s getting more and more excited about the Comp Sci opportunities there. It has brand new facilities and offers a lot of opportunities to combine with other majors (she’d like to double with Chem), so there’s lots of reasons that WashU was one of her top choices in the first place.

So, like I hope for most out there in her situation, there’s positive momentum for the schools where WL students enroll. Can feel it building! Just a matter of getting communication on what is still an open part of this process.

(Thx for asking and cheering along the way, btw.)

I need to get off the Williams Instagram lol and in our case I’m glad the WL closed because it took away any second guessing.

I AM cheering for her! What I realized in this process is that regardless of how they will feel in 6 months, everyone wants to “choose” and “not be chosen.” Sometimes simply means getting to say “No thanks” to a WL call.

If she stays at WashU I will have to pick your brain next year, when I get to do this all again (fun, huh?) with my CS kid.

Thank you for sharing! Wonder if Brown started pulling students from WL for its Class of 2026.

Does anyone know when they released their first wave last year?

From the (terribly unproductive, self-destructive and haunting) searches I’ve done, it was earlier than now.

That said, from what I could compile from what was out there, the info isn’t consistent. There are a couple databases that say they took 127 (I wish), a Brown article that says only 34, and Common Data Set for last year says 28. (It was 194 in 2020-2021 but that’s the pandemic / gap year phenomenon. Usually was 100-120.) If we’re looking at a year like last year, it’s not going to be so much of a wave. Just a targeted trickle

Sigh, was kind of hoping today might be a day, since Ivies like a Saturday release. Just wish they’d say if list was closed for my DD’s sake.
