Here is my Reach/Match/Safety breakdown for you:
NYU: R/M
BU:M
Boston College:M
Tufts: R/M
Cornell:R
Brown: R
Northeastern: S
Lehigh: M
Fordham: S

Your GPA is pretty strong for most of these schools, but they might be a little low for the two Ivies. Are you taking a lot of challenging classes like honors/AP?
Judging from the fact that you have just moved here, you have solid EC's. Try to be an active member of the clubs, and maybe you'll be elected to leadership roles in them next year. Maybe you could even start a club based on one of your hobbies or an issue that you care about. Keep up the good work with the community service. By the way, what does the Leo Club do? Just wondering.

Yes, being a Tibetan refuge will definetely help. You can even write about your experiences in your essay.
Good luck!

Thanks Elbereth for the information- it really helps =). The Leo Club is basically a "junior" version of the Lion's Club, so we just help raise money to donate to the legally blind and other handicapped people.

And yeah I`m currently taking all Honors w/ AP for math and bio. Do you have any other schools that match my GPA.. I only know a few universities. Ok thanks.

I suggest you try the Counselor-O-Matic to find a school that matches your GPA and SAT score as well as your academic/extracurricular interests.

Since you moved from Nepal so recently, you MIGHT have to take the TOEFL exam, but I'm not 100% sure. But if you score high enough on the SAT verbal, than you'll be exempt from taking it. For example Hindi was my first language, but since I got a 750 on the verbal section, that validated the fact that I knew English well enough! So I didn't have to take the TOEFL exam. Talk to your guidance counselor about it.

I wish you the best because my stat's are about the same. I'm expecting around the 1500's on the SAT though because that's what I got on practice. But then you'll have to add writing because I'll be taking the new SAT.

I think you have a reasonable chance at most of the listed colleges above, although as Elbereth Gilthoniel said above, Brown and Cornell may be a little bit of a stretch, although I believe that Cornell accepts something like 30% of applicants? It may not be too much of a stretch if you score well on the SATs and have a strong senior year. Being a Tibetan refugee should play to your advantage too.

By the way, what is Amnesty? I've heard of Amnesty International, but I checked out the site and it doesn't say anything about volunteering, all that it asks for are donations. :-/

ok thanks =]
[tore] which ones do you think I have a good chance in
[sentient89] amnesty in our school is just a club where we get together and help out in situations where humanity is abused and whatnot by writing letters and raising charity money
