Hey, after much thought I finally chose brown over duke and northwestern. I was kind of unsure especially about duke. Now, I have no regrets whatsoever. Can’t wait to arrive in providence in late august.
I spoke with some current brown undergrads and it certainly seems like the IR program at Brown is by far one of the best in the nation. I was curious to know more about their econ program, especially their business economics concetration. any comments?

hey, i dont think they'r offering business economics starting our class, they are replacing it with an inter-departmental programme called something like business organisation, leadership and somethingelse...theres a link but i cant remeber what it is right now...sorry

I actually did get a note from Mr. Darren Uy regarding that new interdeptermental program but i never knew they were scrapping business economics. I thought it was just an add on to the existing programs.

found the link, www.coe.brown.edu

On this site, it says 'With the introduction of COE, the existing undergraduate concentrations of Business Economics, Engineering and Economics, and Public and Private Sector Organizations will eventually no longer enroll new students. ', so they are scrapping Business econ as well as two other concentrations

thanks for the information. I really like the course cause it has retained the entire business economics concepts and courses while adding on the technology and entrepreneurship elements. But, quite honestly, I just wish they had come up with a better name for the major.

well, i was thinking of the concentration as well, but its new so dunno how well it will be recieved it will be by employers. There was an article about it in the Brown newspaper as well

Another question about econ at Brown: I'm taking a semester course in econ right now, and it's kind of interesting. Nothing I wet my pants in excitement over, but it's not bad. Econ, I'm sure, is extremely useful just to know basics. However, I've heard the intro econ class is really boring and not so great (in comparison to other classes). Should I seriously consider taking it, or stick to subjects that really interest me, instead of subjects I think will come in handy? Can anyone give any more information about introductory econ that might make it more appealing?
