I think you have as good of shot as any. chance back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1033113-chance-me-ill-chance-you-back.html

I think you have an excellent shot. Strong GPA and ECs balance out an average ACT score. Best of luck!

@ticorico: thanks, chanced you back!

@paperbackhead: Thanks; I sure hope so :)

Obviously no one is a guaranteed in at an Ivy League, but I’d say you have a very strong application and it wouldn’t be surprising to see you get in.

@nabrazune: you do chance fast! hahaha thanks for the encouragement. Cheers :)

So how are you first generation, but also legacy?

Apart from this little bit of confusion, you have a very impressive background. I’d say you were in.

Guys, I copied this format from an old thread, and the part in bold, aka the parantheses set, gave examples of general hooks lol. I’m not an URM, and technically not a first generation college student. It just happens that I have 1 parent went to Brown, and the other didn’t get to finish high school. So I’m a legacy applicant, not first generation. Again, to clairify: I copied the format from an old thread listed it as is; I said my possible hooks are legacy status and my invnetion EC. Cheers :)

@adchang: Thanks for the input!

I don’t understand how the 32 ACT is going to hurt. It is in the top range of scores…

@Engineerjw: So you think I should be competitive? Lol I just hope that my interview goes over well…been prepping for it a bit the past few days.

You have a great chance. There is no way they wouldn’t accept you! Don’t worry at all! Just don’t screw up the interview (i.e. don’t cuss at them, threaten them, etc.) and you should be fine!

you have a terrific chance of getting in. hope all goes well.

@ICanDivideByZero: hahaha thanks so much for the encouragement! I’m concerned, yet in a way where I’m not totally freaking. Hard to forget about D-Day (Decision Day) coming up lol.

@bostonbryan: Thanks, likewise! I wish you luck!

vey impressive, great chance at Brown

I would be quite shocked if you didn’t get in. Your test scores are fine, GPA is great, all the academic stats are sound.

Your ECs show a lot of commitment and interest to your choice of major, which I think is important. As long as your essays were fairly decent, I am very sure that you will be receiving a Brown acceptance letter soon.

I’m wondering why you have a chance thread, because come on, you’re practically the perfect applicant: amazing ECs that show true dedication, great GPA, great class rank, legacy at Brown… I mean, one could nitpick over the ACT but it’s in the range for Brown, it’s not like you’re applying with a 20 ACT score. XDDD I say you’re a shoo-in.

My friend had a 3.9 gpa, 2010 SAT scores and he was accepted into Brown. I think you have a good shot.

@herbert0507:Thanks!

@SuperIBkid: I appreciate the input! Gosh would I love one of those really soon Would be totally worth all the hard work I’ve done

@jewelledhunter: Because I’m nervous, that’s why! I hope the adcom has a similar opinion as you I wouldn’t have thought shoo-in, WOW, really optimistic lol.

@grigg02: That’s encouraging, thanks! I’ve known some people who have gotten in with “subpar” scores. It’s always nice when schools focus more on ECs and the person themself instead of only going by GPA/SAT.

If anybody wants me to chance them, just let me know.

Everything looks really good.
One thing though is don’t have too many letters of recommendation. From my count you have four. Four’s basically the most you’d ever want. Colleges only place so much weight on them anyways and once you start getting too many they get tired of your application. I wouldn’t get any more.

I’d say you’ll probably get in, but Ivy’s are iffy for everyone. Awesome job!

@Schadelbrecher: Thanks! Yeah…I did have too many. I had 2 teach recs, my college counselor (he writes one for everybody), the engineer I interned with, my “boss” where I volunteer, and my ex-principal (who knows Brown’s Head of Admissions personally). All offered without my asking, and I didn’t have the wherewithal to say no. So I have 5 rec letters, and they all do shine me in good light. The 3 non-school recs are a ton, but in some way, they do carry weight about my ECs I guess. Thanks for your input! I REALLY hope that they don’t get tired of me.

your ACT scores are great for Brown.
I think you have a good shot of getting in, good luck!
