I am in the process of writing my Brown short answers

The first question is: Tell us about the academic areas which interest you most and your reasons for applying to Brown.
Another is: Many applicants to college are unsure about eventual majors. What factors led you to an interest in the field of science you have selected above?
And lastly: Engineering
Brown offers programs in Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Materials and Mechanical Engineering. Because there is a common core curriculum within Engineering, students need not select a specific area until their junior year. We are curious, however, as to whether any particular program within Engineering presently appeals to you. Please discuss that choice if you have one.

I feel as though I am being extremely redundant, since these three questions are really similar. How did you go about writing these and not saying the same things over and over?
Also, I marked my first choice as Applied Mathematics in Part I of the application and a second choice of Engineering. If Engineering is not the number one, should I still write the last essay?

thanks

I was confused by this too at first. But when I went to the online appication I found out why.
If you look at the online version of these essays, you'll see that the first means a WHY BROWN essay, the second is asking WHY ENGINNEERING, NOT CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS OR CS, and the last is WHICH ENGINEERING AND WHY =)

That makes sense. But should I still do the why engineering if i picked my number one academic major to be applied mathematics? I am also not sure which engineering I want to do.

I want to do chemical engineering at Brown and I do not understand one of the questions

What experiences, beyond school work, have broadened your interest in this particular field of science (these might include science fair projects, summer jobs, reading, etc.).

in the preceding question (2. Many applicants to college are unsure about eventual majors. What factors led you to an interest in the field of science you have selected above?) i talked about why I want to do engineering. then in the last essay (4. Please discuss that choice if you have one.) i talked about why i wanted to do chemical engineering.

What the heck am i supposed to put for #3?
