Brown Fall 2010 Transfer Thread

^Nice to see your adamant about transferring, but neither school is a “good bet”. I suggest you go into this whole process with an “hope for the best; expect the worst” attitude. That said, I wish you luck :)

I thought I was the only person who hasn’t received an applicant ID! Made me suspect an initial screening process, whereby the applicants that they thought were not good enough to start with are thrown out the window! haha. Good to see I’m not alone.

Has anyone else called Brown to ask about their application status and if everything has been turned in? I just don’t want to get my passkey a week before we get mailed decisions, only to realize that I have a transcript missing or something.

@ lookingaround

They’re not emailing passkeys in May. We’re getting them THIS week, so don’t worry too much. I wanted to call too but the website explicitly states that they will be emailed the week of April 5th.

I can’t even hope I have to get into brown or my life is ruined

^You’ll be surprised to know that that is not true- not in the least. Make them want you more than you want them, is all I can say.

And just to clarify, Brown is my absolute top choice (although, Cornell and Dartmouth are, too), so I know how everyone is feeling. Good luck, guys.

Hiii does anyone know had anyone been granted early decision notification (for transfers of course) before?

and if so, how much earlier than mid-may were they notified?

Thanks

i would think, at the earliest, early may. cornell has a similar decisions to that of brown’s, and a few people already got their acceptances over on the cornell thread. i’m not feeling very optimistic about brown, so que sera sera about decisions ~.~

@glennat
Brown’s academic program is unique, nevertheless there are many other school’s that are similar.

@unsaidcrap
I am pretty sure Brown does not send out early decisions to transfers. Then again, I did not think early decisions was standard practice at any school.

From [Brown Admission: Transfer Students](<a href=“Undergraduate Admission | Brown University”>Undergraduate Admission | Brown University):

This is the closest thing to an “early decision” notification from Brown for transfer applicants.

I guess we’re getting the logins tomorrow :(

@GoldFinch. Thanks for the reply. I just noticed it on the website, I guess I may have overlooked it last time I checked. The week of April 5th is almost over though…hopefully we’ll get it tomorrow.

@fmhcbc I did that, I sent them my acceptance letter to another school, I wonder how much of an impact it will have on decisions…
oh well I don’t have high expectations with their transfer acceptance rates anyways

Has anyone received their login info yet? I’m starting to wonder if we’re going to get them today or not.

@TheGoldFinch,

Saturday and Sunday could be elements of the set “The week of April 5th” ;P

But there are still a few hours in the workday left :)

I just assumed they wouldn’t send us any info over the weekend since their office is closed. I’m a worrywart, what can I say. Haha.

I got really worried about this. Did they actually receive too many applications this year so they cannot process them in time or what?

Did some one get his/her userID?

In regards to sending them an acceptance letter, I always wonder if it matters which school’s acceptance letter you send. Like if you were to send an acceptance letter from another Ivy, would that help you? Or would they think “well he’s already gotten in to (insert chosen Ivy here), so he doesn’t really NEED a Brown acceptance?”

In theory, we should be getting some log in info in the next couple hours since they close at 5.
