but…im only a ‘solid’ applicant (indian male from NJ) 2100 SAT (retake in oct), 8002c, 710 bio-m, 670 ush, 4.66 wGPA, 3.96 UW, 5th in class, a list of nice ECs, some leadership…no amazing awards, but shows committment and motivation…and, my competitors applying to Brown ED probably destroy me in this aspect, but although i cant say it as a fact, i can say with great confidence that i want to go to brown more than the majority of these other EDers…so, do you think strong essays (passionate…) and a strong “why brown?” section would make the cut?

I still think it’s terribly audacious of you to blindly assume you want to go to Brown more than other ED applicants like myself, but we have had that discussion before.

As for your question, no one can give a better response than “it’s possible.” No one knows what Brown is looking for this year, who will read your application (and what mood they will be in when they do), what they will make of your essays, etc. If you have worked hard in high school and you are a worthy applicant to Brown, and your application shows it, you have just as good of a chance as everyone else applying ED.

Boy, these chance posts are always tough. You obviously want it bad enough. Hrm. I say you have a good shot at getting into Brown.

Essays need to be amazing. But that goes for everyone.

Goodluck to both of you!

Honestly, going back over your stats, I think you’re a very solid candidate (and I don’t see why you seem like only essays could get you in - it’s not like you have a C average and say a 1200 on the SAT). So yes, if your essays were really great, you have a shot.
