It seems that another student (in addition to nspeds) received a decision from Brown. Should we expect decisions soon, or will it take until after May 15?

Where did you see the other student?

May 15th is the day envelopes are sent.

In the rejection dance party thread Gosenheim says:

I got rejected from Brown....and my best friend's dad is on the Board of Trustees! wow that hurts. they said they accepted 60 out of 1200 this year. ****ty though...now im waiting to dance on chicago and northwestern. woo hoo.

Yeah : ( : (

I'm guessing they probably admit ~100 to fill an incoming class of 60 (30 split between fall and spring)

Chances are still horrible, especially given that 1200 students applied this year.

"I got rejected from Brown"

did u hear already??

If they have 60 spots to fill, and they are accepting 100 students to fill those spots, then I don't think all of our chances are that awful. If they are only accepting 60 students, like Columbia does- then I wouldn't be the least bit hopeful. Does anyone know, nspeds?

What upsets me the most about all of this is that I had no idea - no one had no idea - that they were going to be so drastically selective this year. Sure, they can't control the number of students that apply but you would think that things would be more stable rather than subject to so much chance.

Now I'm wondering why the hell I didn't apply to H, D, and S if I was going to know that my chances are slim to none.

With Cornell down and Brown, Penn and Columbia left I feel like this is going to be high school all over again.

That is exactly what I thought.

Likewise, one of the main reasons I applied to Brown was their reasonable acceptance rate for transfers for such a good school.....so much for that.

yeahhhh

if i had any idea that places like brown and duke were going to be H, S, Y, level, i would have applied to those places as well

b/c honestly, if one now is to get into duke or brown, they could have prob gotten into harvard or stanford

and worst about it, i never even apply to stanford or yale, so that prob would have been in my favor

Guys, it's pretty simple and I don't know why you haven't figured this out already: There is no God. The problem of evil is solved.

I feel like Penn is going to be decent this year (at least if you're applying to CAS and not Wharton)- btw, bball I feel you're in at Penn - but honestly, even that wasn't exactly my top choice (as with Cornell) and I'm unsure whether or not I would go even if I do get in.

But you're a freshman, bball, right? So be happy; for you have yet another year to take a more pragmatic, educated approach to this whole process. I know I wish I had. Instead, after all my rejections last year, I started to say to hell with transferring, I can't take the agony of it anymore, it'll never work for me blah blah. Going into the few schools that I actually did apply to this year (decided last minute) I went in with that same mentality: I'm going to get destroyed, I can't be serious about this application. I regret that now. I wish I had applied to many more safeties and matches.

Also, matm, I agree completely. Haha.

I thought I had it lucky last year - I applied to Brown and got recruited by the head of the Classics Dept. who is also the Dean of F'ing Transfer Students, who wrote me an amazing rec, and I didn't get in because of financial need. They accepted like 200 last year! Why is Brown being a cnty bitch!

i feel like penn wont be ridiculous to get into either

It came out?! How did you guys find out?

Penn doesn't come out until May 11, Brown I've heard isn't sent until May 15. How have two people heard from Brown? Is it speculation or from last year perhaps?

forced decisions maybe?
