Brown or Columbia?

I’m torn between Brown and Columbia. I’m an international student intending to major in economics and am not able to visit the institutions.

Beyond the obvious differences such as NYC vs Rhode Island and Core vs Flexible Curriculum, what are the relative merits of each?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

initiative is a good thing.

I think you should post this on the columbia forum. There are more very well informed students/graduates there

hcvcops-- I take serious offense to that statement.

lgg-- check out my thread in the Featured Discussions section of the Brown site. It goes over in detail the Open Curriculum at Brown and how that’s not really a simple, obvious difference, but truly is a pervasive element of Brown culture and effects all other aspects of life here on campus.

It’s pretty hard to respond to, “sell me on your school”, it’d be much easier if you could talk more about your own desires, goals, wants, and needs and then I could address how Brown can or cannot address those.

Where?

Why did you apply to both of these schools?
