<p>School-Related Clubs/Activities
Green Team (President)[10th -12th grade]- The Green Team is the Environmental Club. I worked as a freshman to get the club started in my sophomore year. Elected president at the end of sophomore year. Through the Green Team I’ve spearheaded projects including:
• A series of awareness projects including a monthly “Environment Bulletin Board” (started in 11th Grade), school-wide posters (10th -12th), and a “garbage sculpture” to show the destructiveness of not recycling (10th grade)
• Community and school cleanups and recycling initiatives (10th -12th)
• Raking the leaves in the school courtyard and using them as a base for a composting in compost tumbler(10th and 11th) and organizing the planting and cleanup of the Memorial Garden in our school commemorating all lost students(11th and 12th)</p>

<p>Youth and Government (1 of 5 Statewide Treasurers)(President)[10th-12th grade]- A YMCA-sponsored club in which students create a functioning model of NJ Legislature which includes creating laws that we would like to see passed. My bill at the 2009 Conference was to mandate that all new public and state construction use LED lighting to cut back on energy costs and usage. The bill was one of the select few bills to be passed through the model legislature completely and “made into law.” Also at the 2009 Conference I was accepted to be a statewide treasurer at the 2010 Conference. President in my senior year.</p>

<p>Medical Sciences Peer Leadership [10th -12th grade]- The Medical Sciences Learning Center is an elite magnet program with a focus on advanced mathematic and science curriculum. Each grade level has four peer leaders who have been selected by faculty and peers on the basis of academic performance and character. The goal of the peer leaders is to provide an example for others in the learning center and school community and to establish lasting bonds between students of all grades in the learning center.</p>

Emergency Room responsibilities include: Restocking rooms, patient transport, and hospitality. Sterile Processing responsibilities include: Preparing supplies for the Operating Room, stocking shelves, and inspecting supplies for defects.</p>

<p>National Honor Society [Inducted in 11th grade, Active Member]</p>

<p>Italian Honor Society (Member of Executive Board)[Inducted in 10th grade, Active Member]- Member of the Executive Board which makes decisions and plans about the service activities that the honor society will participate in. Some past examples are Italian lessons for young children of Italian-American descent and collaboration with the local Girl Scouts to organize their International Day.</p>

<p>You’ll probably get in everywhere with the exception of Brown and uPenn being toss ups. Good luck!</p>

Very different schools, different academic intensities, very different student bodies. Southern Cal. suburban vs. Northeastern urban locations. Small liberal arts college vs. largeish university. Not much in common. But you may well have specific reasons on the choice - it’s just not a combination one often sees.</p>
