Brown PLME or Harvard?

So I thought I had everything figured out, but apparently not.
I CAN'T DECIDE!!??? and I'm going out of my mind.
Both are giving me awesome financial aid.

So is it Harvard where I'll need to fight for medical school, but which may end up being better than Brown Medical School

OR

Brown with the awesome reassurance of a medical school position waiting for me at the end of 4 years???

Any input would be greatly appreciated. A pros and cons list would be better than strawberry cheesecake.

Firstly: Congrats! I would choose Harvard. If you were accepted in both, then you have a good chance of getting into an excellent med. school latter. Harvard is worth it...it will build up your connections considerably and it is a once in a life time experience.

As little as this helps, I know I've read another thread about making this decision before. Search Harvard and PLME and Brown and you'll hopefully find it.

Good luck!

PS, I think the general consensus on that thread was to go to Harvard because if you can get into a medschool once, you can prolly get in again...especially if you have harvard to back you up.

PLME dude, all the way.

harvard. then you have the chance of getting into a better med school than brown's.

you'd have the same chance either way (PLME doesn't bind you to brown med). the only difference is that at harvard you'd have to make it past the "weed-out" classes, deal with distribution requirements, and be sure you're not in the 20% of students who apply from harvard and don't get in anywhere the first time around

PLME even if u would want a chance a better med school. if your GPA is good and your MCAT's are good enough for a better medical school, apply elsewhere if you are confident enough otherwise just continue on the PLME track

PLME without a doubt... much more flexibility, much better undergraduate experience without sacrificing as much prestige as you think. come to ADOCH, especially the PLME panel, which will really help you understand what it's all about. i'll probably be there meeting and greeting.

I would say go for Harvard

If you are good enough to get into these 2 schools/programs, you will be good enough to get into med school!

And I'm assuming you plan on working just as hard in Harvard so you'll have an advantage over all other applicants! And congrats!

Harvard...that's no brain work.

PLME, you can always apply out and go to a "better" med school if you can get into one - and trust me having that extra security blanket to know you have a seat in med school is - priceless

If you can get into Harvard...you'll get into med school....

you'd be stupid to go to harvard over brown PLME....brown PLME is one of the biggest honors out there....and who cares if brown's med school isn't that great? it doesnt even matter...all that matters is that you get your MD....and plus that harvard sensation will die out after the first year

and seroiusly, the MCAT is a 6 hour long exam....do you seroiusly wanna take such a nerveracking test? I know people who dropped their medical ambitions as a whole JUST because of the thought of taking the MCAT

with my whole heart i say do PLME without a doubt.

Without doubt:Brown PLME. Going to Harvard is not a ticket to a top tier medical school...or to any medical school for that matter.

That's true. The competition is hard. But if you can make it to Brown once, chances are that you will do it again and possibly a lot better.

If you are able to get into harvard, you should be able to get into any med school you want.
Harvard baby!!

Oh sure...tell that to those Harvard grads who got admission into second or third tier med schools...or had to take a year off before reapplying once again.
I think that if a person is absolutely certain of a career in medicine, then take the BA/MD option, especially at a place like Brown. But don't chose Harvard with the mind set that if admission into such a place was possible, then a top tier medical school admission is a certainty. This is ideal thinking that is not necessarily true.

it is toss up. if u really want to md then brown gives a optimal choice ivy UG and medical.

just look at brown's match list...it can't get much better

plme any day

i suggest plme. 8-year programs > any 4 year undergrad.
