Brown PLME Requirements

Hi! So I am a student interested in the PLME program at Brown. I have checked the websites for similar programs at other schools, and have found clear requirements like a GPA that the student must maintain in order to stay in the program during undergraduate studies or an MCAT score that the student must earn to continue in the program. I have searched the Brown website for information on the exact undergraduate GPA requirements, course requirements, and MCAT score requirements for the PLME program but can not seem to find any. Is anybody having better luck figuring those out?

As far as I know, Brown does not require anything specific in order to move on to the medical school.

If you do try to apply to other medical schools you lose your admission.

GPA requirement: brown doesn’t calculate GPA, but you must get As and Bs in your classes.
Course requirements: not that strict due to the open curriculum. Must take 2-3 bio classes, two chem classes, two writing courses, two physics classes, and demonstrate competency in humanities/social sciences. You can major in whatever you want and still fulfill these requirements.
No mcat.

" but you must get As and Bs in your classes"

Where is this specified?

You don’t need to get A’s and B’s in all your classes. At least for my year (2014/2018), the requirement is that you must take three biology courses off an approved list and get an A or a B in all three of those. Your other required courses (gen chem, orgo, physics, etc) have no grade requirements.

To reiterate, you do not need to take the MCAT as a PLME, nor is there a specific GPA requirement. The PLME advising deans do review your academic work every semester to make sure that you’re on track and that you’re meeting their standards.

Here’s a copy of the PLME handbook for the most recent class so you can see the specific requirements:
