I can't answer many of your questions, but I suggest you join the yahoo group that has been made specifically for prospective Brown summer students with questions like yours!

btw, I'm applying too! I just sent my apps in today. Although I'd love to do a full college course and do the 7 week's I unfortunately am unable too cuz i'm going to Europe this summer as well! woo hoo!

Sounds awesome! I applied for Intro to biochem or Waging War on Cancer Cells as my second choice. Good luck with your app and join the yahoo group. I hear it's not that selective. Through the yahoo group i talked to some girls who were in the program last year, they said the level of academic achievement among people at brown varies... some have B- avarages while others are straight A students

I did it about 5 years ago and it was one of the best summers of my life. In just a couple of weeks I made life-long friends--some ended up coming to Brown with me for college, others went to some of the other ivies but it gave me an excuse to go visit.

Most of the classes are not too demanding over the summer, there is a lot of time for fun. Providence is great over the summer, the campus is beautiful, there is waterfire and a lot of things to do.

i did the summer@brown program last summer. all in all, it was a lot of fun. my course, (conceptual modern physics) was very interesting and covered topics that i wouldn't otherwise learn until I took a third-year level cosmology class. i enjoyed studying in the SciLi and eating meals at the v-dub and walking along thayer street and conquering the hills of providence to get to the amazing mall.

my professor gave a lot of homework, but, in general, i had a lot of free time. there aren't many rules (well, obviously, you aren't allowed to drink or do drugs or skip class.), which translates to little adult supervision and no curfew. in other words, you're on your own! The independence you have at brown can be a lot of fun, if you're ready for it.

In short, it was a fantastic experience and definitely worth it.

you guys make it soudn so wonderful. Now i really hope i get in. I'm a little worried because Academically i'm rather "average", But i wrote a pretty good essay, so i hope that helps.

I took Medicine, Law, and Morality last summer. If you search through some of the older threads, other people have asked about the program and I've given them pretty thorough responses. I did the 7 week program for the past two summers.

I hear it's not very selective, and if I of all people got in then it must not be very selective AT ALL. To answer the other guy's question, It took me about 5-6 days i think to find out. I just recieved an email today, I'm supposed to recieve the official stuff within a few days.
