On the Brown website they ask that the recs be made on "college stationery," which is fine, but do they ever list the guidelines for the recs? I can't just hand an envelope to a professor and say, "Here, write about me." I haven't received the paper app yet, and the online, downloadable PDF version doesn't have it, I don't think.

(I've been stressed lately and if I overlooked it and it was obvious, sorry!)

Someone answer their question please, lol I'm interested too.

I lucked out, because along with transfering to brown, i asked my teachers to write letter for other schools. so basically, i would just download the teacher rec forms from another school, print them out, and just tell your teachers to address these questions.

If you want to apply to Brown as a sophomore, would you have to send in high school recs? anything from high school?

i'm in the same boat... i don't think we have to send in high school recommmendations (correct me if i'm wrong, someone please do!!!)... I wish we did or could (could we??)... but we do need to send in our high school records, Form 2A I believe is the Secondary School Report. We need our guidance counselors to fill out a lot of information.

darkstarrrising, that's a great idea!!! i was wondering the same thing as marta05... so thanks for the tip!

yeah, i also wish that we could send in our high school recs, but all the schools i applied to made no mention of it anywhere. im pretty sure that it would be uandvisable to include them. the schools, at least in my understanding, want to see how you're doing at college... whether you've made an "impression" on whomever you choose to write your letters.

I'd understand if they wouldnt want it for junior transfers but sophomore transfers only have a semester under their belt...

so what DO we need from high school besides our guidance counselor's help in filing out some info? do we need their rec?

yup we do... see Form 2A on the website. has anyone received a paper copy yet????

I received my paper copy last week after requesting it in October.

There is no more information about what is to be included in recommendations. It is exactly the same stuff as is available on the website to download.

so can anyone confirm whether or nto we can send in our HS teacher recs if we are applying as freshman for sophomore transfer?

i'm under the impression that they want only the rec your high school counselor sends in and two recs from college professors. can't confirm it but... if you read carefully, you should come to the same conclusion.

of course, it wouldnt hurt to call brown and clarify...

they are really busy - aka unfriendly at this time though :(
