Last time trolling lame college boards were fun...

Never.

are you kidding me? who wouldn't want to be paid to do an independent project in a country of their choosing?

most wordly, intellectually curious ivy grads i know would kill for that opportunity.

plus fulbright recipients usually go on to the grad school or job of their choice.

seriously, quit the brown trolling. the fulbright is cool for people who are interested, but it's by no means hypercompetitive like the rhodes, marshall, etc., and certainly not carte blanche to go to "grad school of their choice". there are tons of people from far less prestigious schools than brown who get fulbrights

but it means something.
when brown got the largest number of fulbrights in grad/undergrad totaled.
people overlook the fulbright, because sure its not as prestigous as the rhodes.
but honestly, what that award does reveal, is the types of kids brown attracts.
brown attracts very selfless, and dedicated students to the world. they get alot of crap for being a "hippie" school, but honestly there is no ideal brown student. you don't have to be a certain way to fit in there. all you must be is tolerant of those different. that IS the precise reason why there are so many different people coexisting at Brown.

how is it trolling to point out a tremendous accomplishment? no one ever said it was a carte blanche anything or on par with the rhodes or winning miss universe or whatever.

but look, the fulbright is a big deal. the program has been around for less than one generation and 37 recipients have gone on the win the nobel prize, 18 have been heads of state, and 11 have been elected to the U.S. congress.

other schools seem to think it was a big deal. MIT put their 6 winners on the homepage, as did princeton, yale and several other excellent institutions. why not boast about brown's 21 ?
