I've got one. I can't get a straight response-- microwaves. Cool or not cool by Uni rules? If not, do people bring em anyway? I have an extra one that's perfect (long story how that happens) and was hoping I could bring that and have my roommate get the fridge.

Btw, does anyone else have a strong aversion to the term "roomie/roomy" for roommate??

I have about 40 or so Facebook friends at Brown. About half of those who people who friended me, and the other half were people who I friended based on shared interests/music/etc. While I would never go crazy and friend EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the entering class, as some people did, I think it's nice to be familiar with some people before you get to Brown, and then if you meet them, you can be like "hey, we're facebook buddies... we both like Radiohead" or what have you.

I am pretty sure it's an informal, walk out with your food thing. At least, I didnt see anything in V-Dub to simply take out.

I do know that there is another small place more for late night snacking open until 2am where your card works (counting as a meal swipe), so I'll likely be filling the snack drawer like that.

mgsinc is absolutely right. I was going to get the 20-meal plan anyway, since I want to eat breakfast most mornings, but when you're already paying $3200 for the plan, an extra $600 for 50% more meals is absolutely worth it...

Actually, surprisingly (for me, when I got to campus, anyway), it is not so informal. There are specific containers, and you can take one large one and one small one.

i have a question about how the first year work study grant works. how exactly do students who are eligible receive the money? is there a monthly/weekly/bi-weekly credit to their account for a certain amount? or is there a lump sum credited to the account at the beginning of the year? how are you able to access/use the money?

Another random appliance question: do hot pots count as having "exposed heating elements" or are they ok for dorms? More to the point, if I have one, will anyone care?
