Brown switching to the commonapp?

<p>I read on another thread here that Brown is switching to the commonapp. Is this definite? Has anyone spoken directly to an admissions officer or someone that would know for sure? And if so, will this happen for fall 2008, class of 2013?</p>

<p>There have been rumors, suspicions and mumbling undertones, but as of yet, no decision has been made. Heck, they haven't even made it through this year's applications.</p>

<p>Yes. I spoke with an admissions officer when I toured Brown this fall. He told me definitively that they will be switching to the Common App effective Fall 2008 (next year's admission cycle). As far if they will still accept their own application, I do not know. It is not unheard of, as Princeton accepts both the Common App as well as their own.</p>

<p>For Brown, that's a good thing... there's nothing on their app that they couldn't put on a common app supplement, and their application's website is a royal pain.</p>

<p>The admissions officer I spoke to said switching to the Common Ap is being considered, but no definite decision has been made. This person did indicate that it is likely to happen.</p>

<p>im probably the only one that hates the common app. brown's format was a lot more organized i liked it better.</p>

<p>I agree that the brown application/website stinks. They should switch to the common application, which while not perfect, is so much better than brown's.</p>
