Engineering. @KevAquarius, yeah the chances probably aren’t great. We’ll see, and best of luck to you at the school you chose!

Engineering +1

@ all waitlistees Hey guys, did any of you apply for financial aid? I just checked my application portal this morning and found out that they added a new requirement for me. I’m just wondering if you also got such notification. Jeez, may be I’m just reading into all this too much.

I just called the admission office. They said that they have made all the decisions and will be sending them out by mail soon. (to both your mailing address and permanent address). Because I didn’t receive any emails nor phone calls during the whole waitlist process, so I asked them if that mean I have been rejected. (I heard some rumors that Brown will call the waitlisters they intend to admit or email them, but typically still by calling them.) She said no, and told me that they do not notify any waitlisted applicants by phone, even if you are admitted, you are gonna find out only when the mail comes through.

I was so nervous when calling the office, and forgot to ask her one critical question:
Did Brown actually admit any transfer applicant from the waiting list this year?

It might be inappropriate to call in again to just ask this question, so does anyone know if they really pulled applicants off the transfer waitinglist this year?

And for Joy2014, I did not apply for FA, so my application portal doesn’t have additional requirement. Since the admission representative said that decisions have been made, you might wanna call the office and ask them what you have to do.

Everyone, good luck!

^ I just called the admission office again after reading your post. There’s this grumpy lady who gave me zero information. I couldn’t get a straight answer out from her. She just told me what I already knew. Also, I asked her if any transfer applicants were admitted from the waitlist and she said she couldn’t disclose such information. I guess we’ll just have to wait it out.
Yeah, I called the financial aid office and asked to waive that requirement and they did.

Not to give ourselves false hope but… Whilst getting my creep on on the 2011 Transfer Forum I saw that people didn’t get their phone calls until around June 10th, maybe later this week someone will get lucky?

Although for some reason the fact that the woman from admissions said she “couldn’t disclose that info” makes me feel as though they didn’t admit any waitlistees. Le sigh. Crossing my fingers for all of us nonetheless.

Do you think there’s any chance we could ask for our decisions by phone this time around as well? Thanks for the info guys.

^I would say it’s kinda too early to get the decision by phone. I checked last year thread and people didn’t get their decisions by phone until around June 26th. But, you can always give it a try.

Brown is worth the waiting, but still, my midterms are coming up next week and I will have to stay nervous for at least 2 more weeks (If Joy2014 is right.)

Yeah, I think Joy is right. The only people who seemed to receive any information by phone this early were people who were accepted, they were called on June 10th. But when anyone else called Brown asking for their decision they were told to wait for the mail… Worth the wait, agreed, but definitely doesn’t make it any easier!

just got my letter…rejected it wasnt really clear if they accepted anyone off the waitlist but they did they said that they had filled their class

Sookie21, which state are you in?

BTW, I’m pretty sure that they did not accept anyone from RD waiting list. As early as May 18, The New York Times published this article [Early Word on 2012 College Admission Yields and Wait-List Offers - NYTimes.com](Early Word on 2012 College Admission Yields and Wait-List Offers - The New York Times)
saying that Brown has no plans to admit students from its RD wait list.

That was published on May 18th when a lot of RD waitlistees were still hoping for a chance.
Will they have something similar for transfer admission? I kinda doubt it though, since our population is so small compared to freshman applicants.

I really hope they’ll take some applicants off the waitlist. After all, they said in the waitlist letter that they hadn’t admitted so many applicants as to make acceptance from the waitlist improbable. Man, I wish they’ll stay true to their word.

Me too I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a disappointing walk back from the mailbox…

Also got a letter saying I did not get in. East coast. Don’t be too discouraged though–I did NOT expect to get in, needed a good amount of FA and also applied to arguably the most competitive major to get into. So there is hope! Wasn’t intending to go anyway :)

Hello guys. I just activated my Brown email account and missed the deadline of this activation (6.1). If possible, would any of you guys inform me whether Brown has sent some messages to our email since June 1st? Thank you very much (I will call Brown to check out as well) !

Brownish what is the process for setting up our brown emails? do we set it up on the self service account or on the webapps.brown.edu? on the webapps site it just says my email has not been set yet, but i cant find where to set it up

@ waitlistees Hey guys, I just called the admission office and left my contact number. The lady there said she would forward my contact info to an admission officer and they’ll get back to me hopefully within today. And, she also told me that not all decisions have been sent out so don’t freak if you haven’t got yours. So, I’m just letting you guys know that if you want to receive your decision by phone now, you should probably call the admission office. Good luck to all of us.

Hey, admajl. I haven’t received anything important to my Brown email yet. I’ve only received a confirmation of my activation, a crime alert, a general announcement from Ruth Simmons, and a few Brown Morning Mail messages, which is “a daily digest of messages for the Brown community.” It seems like, at the moment, they’re still sending the important emails to my personal email, which I used when applying.

@Joy2014
I just called the office and it seems like whoever answered your call on Tue/Wed answered mine this time. She told me that it will be sent out within a week and now is not possible for me to know the decision through phone…

And I asked her if anyone got off the waitlist, she said she could not disclose that information now so I just said ok, but when will that info be released. She was like: after you get your decision letter, you can call in and check with us-_-

Is it true that Brown calls admitted waitlistees and send letters to all the rest? Does that mean if we did not get any phone calls it means we are screwed? It seems contradicting with what the lady told me “we do not call anyone to inform them of our decision”. But Brown did call admitted kids for the past few years.

Man, good luck to all waitlistees
