Brown Transfer 2012

Just got my rejection letter on the West Coast. Oh well, guess I saw that coming. Good luck to those still waiting!

Today is my last day of being 20, and it was quite heartbreaking to receive Brown’s rejection letter in the mail as my birthday gift :[ I know my chances are slim, but I really worked hard for this and just so disappointed in myself for not making the cut. Though very sad, I know I need to look forward to my 21, and hopefully it will be a new beginning. Plus, I will also start all my finals next week, hopefully I will get over the rejection and ace my finals. My journey has ended, sour and bitter feeling, but I wish the rest of the people best of luck in your academic endeavors!!

@ adamajl44 you can go to activate.brown.edu and follow the instructions. let me know if you have any questions.

@amory thanks for the updates!

@Brownish i already set up my account, but it says my email isnt set yet. after you set up your account, is there a way to set up your email account, or under the email address tab does it just assign you an email?

@adamajl44 I am not sure where you started and where you have stopped. If successful, you will be assigned your email name. You could still look around or call CIS. Their phone number is 401-863-4357. Hope it helps.

Rejected via phone yesterday. Good luck for the rest of you who haven’t heard back.

Rejected yesterday as well. Kind of think they didn’t take anyone off the waitlist

uh… anyone got off the list?

if they did not admit anyone from the list, what was the “We have offered admission to a small percentage of our applicants but not so many, we believe, as to make it impossible for us to admit some applicants from the Waiting List” all about then?

@Brownish -

How did you activate your brown e-mail, and where did you receive the instructions to do so?

i haven’t heard much from the university yet…

@AndrewMech It sure doesn’t seem like it, does it… I feel like if anyone had they would have been notified by now but I could be wrong (in fact I hope I’m wrong, for your sake!). I do think it’s kinda not cool to make their letter sound so hopeful for us. That was probably the most optimistic waitlist letter I’ve ever seen but with the worst results.

@Bloom1904
True story…

But it kinda hurt people’s feeling though… speaking pretty but empty words.

Well, any intention to apply next year?

Nope, I’m an incoming junior this Fall so it’d be too late. I’m headed to Vassar instead which I’m happy with. Hope you get good news today!

@Bloom 1904 Thanks for your kind wish :)

Brown is the only college that I applied to as a sophomore transfer. Because I am actually very happy with my current school, but was very attracted to Brown’s open curriculum.

They might be skeptical of me though, since i did not SAT/ACT, and only have grades for one semester. BTW, I applied on Feb.29th while their deadline is March 1st.

Have to go back to study now, programming midterm tomorrow morning LOL.

The admissions officer I spoke to told me that no one was taken off the waitlist since the retention was much higher than expected. I don’t really know what to think about it, but best of luck to everyone!

Hey Guys!!
Hope you are enjoying the summer!
I am wonder whether for transfer admits for the fall there is a FB group or something.
Can’t wait to know you all!

Hey, Brownish! Hope you’re enjoying your summer too. There is a group, but it’s kind of dead. We only have 7 members and no one ever posts. Here’s the link: [Log In | Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/groups/463392983686974/)

Hey guys,

I’m about to go into my senior year at Brown (International Relations) and just wanted to reach out to you guys first of all to say congrats on coming to Brown, you’re gonna love it! Also, I wanted to see if any of you guys were looking for off-campus housing. One of our friends has had to drop out for medical reasons but we’ve got a beautiful house within easy walking distance of campus.

The house has free laundry, utilities and furnishings included and the floor you’ll be living on has a full kitchen, bathroom, large common room and even a balcony! We’re all Brown students and hoping to keep it in the Brown community so I thought I’d extend it to you guys! Let me know if you’re interested or have any questions.

I apologize if I’m being spammy, but I can also answer any other questions you might have about Brown/Providence :)
