I think it took Brown some time to set up your status account and the dates are not really correct to the actual ones… I turned in my commapp in January, but they didnt get back to me with the account stuff until February, and one the status they say my application was received in February. I think they included the processing time, and the date on the status is probably the date that they added the information to your file.

I wonder how frequently the admissions office updates the applicant status page.

Has everyone received login info for the application portal?

CoffeeLa: good luck! You have really good qualifications, but we never really know. Did you apply to transfer Freshman year? Why as a sophmore?

Yeah, you need a midterm report. They say as soon as you can, have one sent.

I visited Brown over Spring break (to see my friend). It was beautiful, the people seemed awesome, and it made me want to go there more than ever. I think I have a less idealized notion of it than I did applying as a high school senior, which is good. I realize there are parts of Brown that I don’t love. And I have come to see that it is similar to my current school in some ways. But, in the end, I think I would fit in there better than I would anywhere else.

Eiriholic, I applied like 10 days after the deadline and I received my login info a few days ago

The aspect of Brown I dislike is the hipsters

Socart: Thank you so much! I am just keeping my fingers crossed right now… I never applied to Brown before, and I know that my qualifications are not as outstanding as majority of the applicant pool, but I just wish that the admissions will see something special in me…
I don’t know, I thought people usually transfer as juniors into a new college… I love my college right now, and the past 1 year and half really at my current college really offered me opportunities to grow… I guess I used the time here well to develop myself and try new things… but of course, after I studied abroad in Cambridge, U.K. this past summer, I realized how much I love the private college environment, especially after talking to many of my friend I met abroad, who are ivy league students, and a liberal art college like Brown just seems so ideal for me to grow even more… so that’s why I started doing transfer apps.
Are you transferring as a sophomore(entering as a second year)??

I’m pretty sure there are no likely letters.

Will Brown post the decision on our status account on May 15 or is that just the day that they mail out letters?

Hey, is anyone’s application status page still showing missing documents? Mine is still missing the secondary school report and the secondary school transcript, even though I sent them back in February. Should I resend these now?

I wouldn’t be worried about this but I just received an unfortunate email from another school saying that one of my documents (which I sent 6 weeks ago) was missing and I have until Thursday to get it to them or my application wouldn’t even be considered, and I’m not sure if they will receive what I resent today in time. Ah.

hopefultransfer2, I have exactly the same missing documents as you, and I had sent everything together in one package back in late February as well.

Even though I did not receive an e-mail asking for these supposed “missing documents,” I did re-send it with my Mid-Term Report that I was finally able to complete two weeks ago. I am just going to wait and see what happens; the applicant status page doesn’t seem to be updated frequently.

Is it a requirement to submit the midterm report?

It is not listed in table on the Brown applicant login page. It would be quite difficult for me to get my grades at this point because I go to a large school with large classes. Plus, I do not want my professors knowing that I am attempting to transfer out of my school because I may be here again next year!

@nlm2993 I had that same fear about professors! I had TAs fill it out, and when I had to I suffered uncomfortable conversations with professors about it, but many seemed understanding when I explained my reasons… It is mandatory this is straight from the admissions site “These include the Transfer Application, the Instructor Evaluation, the College Official’s Form, the Mid-Term Report, and the Secondary School Final Report. You must request two letters of recommendation from college instructors or teaching assistants on college stationery.”

To nlm2993, just to reiterate what cudreams said, it is mandatory – it does say so on the site, but someone emailed them and got a response affirming that it’s necessary. I think that was a few pages back on the thread if you want to check. Good luck getting the grades for the form. I’m at a small LAC myself, but I certainly feel for ya!

Personally, I don’t like the Mid-Term report… I think they should be able to make informed decisions without it (they have in the past, right?) plus it just adds more work for them and more stress for us. It was also very awkward to just… pass a form from one professor to the others, then mail it myself. Weird. I wonder if it’s experimental or if it’s here to stay.

I had my application materials completed.

I emailed Brown admissions and they told me to send in my midterm report when I can. Luckily, the deadline is any time before decisions because I am going to have one heck of a time trying to find out grades for my 5 [large] classes.

I go to Cornell, but I would love to be at a small LAC.

What is the transfer acceptance rate?

The acceptance rate is something like 9%, but it varies wildly every year.

It doesn’t really vary wildly, it has been around 10% for the past four years

Hmm well I’m on the waitlist currently, but if I don’t get in off of it, I’ll very likely apply as a transfer next year. Any tips? Or will I be too busy getting used to college life that there isn’t much I’ll be able to do to increase my chances of getting in other than doing well in school? And do they look at AP Scores from senior year?

youwrotethis, just get involved and get very good grades. There’s not much more I can say… yes, they’ll look at your test scores especially if you’re a freshman trying to transfer in, because they don’t have much else on which to base their decision. You may fare better if you wait a year, because you’ll have more semesters’ worth of grades to make up a GPA that gives Brown a more accurate representation of your ability to excel in college.
