I saw a thread from last year, and quite a few people were saying something like “I got waitlisted…I applied for a full financial aid, so it’s no surprise”. Is Brown known for waitlisting / rejecting transfer students with a high financial need? I will be applying for financial aid, so this worries be quite a bit.
Thank you.
They’re need-aware for transfers, so it’s possible - perhaps even very likely - that many of their choices are influenced by how much aid an applicant will need. However, there have been accepted transfers who have needed full aid.
I checked the website before, and it indeed was need-aware. I also saw in the old post, only 14% of accepted transfer students had demonstrated financial need, when 50% of applicants had the need. I guess it still would be pretty much similar. But it’s good to hear that there are accepted students with full aid. I guess it’s going to get even harder to get in, but there still is some hope. Thanks!
Yup, there’s definitely still hope! I’m applying to Brown and I’ll need a full ride, so I’m right there with you. Good luck!
Thanks and good luck to you, too!
