My friend had this question, and, as the resident CCer, I told him I'd ask:

He's interested in applying as a transfer to Brown, but never took SATII's. Does not taking them dramatically hurt his chances of being accepted? If so, would it look weird taking them while in his second year of college?

You don't need them so long as you request to have them waived. You can do this by explaining, in writing, that they were not required for your current school.

If you did not take any standardized tests as part of the application process to your current college, you must request a waiver from Brown in writing. It should be noted that an application to Brown without results from a standardized test may be detrimental to your chances of admission.

This is pretty confusing. Does this mean that he SHOULD take them or SHOULDN'T? He has the regular SAT test, just not the II's.
