Has anyone else here accepted a spot on this waitlist? I heard there were under 40 people on it, but that still isn't exactly encouraging -- I have very little money to put toward my education and Brown is need-aware. Do I have any chance here? What steps should I take to show them that Brown is far and away my #1 school?

I would recommend writing them a letter expressing your interest, and sending them an updated transcript with your spring semester grades if you have not already done so. If you have any special talents, I doubt submitting supplementary materials demonstrating them will have any negative consequences. I do not know what they told you, but I am very disinclined to believe that waiting lists are unweighted (no pun intended). With this outlook, it behooves you to make yourself as prominent in the minds of the committee as possible (the exception being of course, through annoying phone calls).

As for your chances, it seems completely dependent on the number of accepted students who accept their admission, which is determined by arbitrary discretion of Fate. It is unfortunate, but they have likely allocated most of their available cash ($400,000 between some 200 people goes fast). If Brown is far and above your top-choice, and you would borrow the money even if they gave you very little help, you should definitely state this explicitly in your letter of interest.

im on the wesleyan waitlist. sent them my final grades (4.0), an additional letter, going to send an additional rec too. Guess we just have to wait :)

Unfortunately, my spring semester grades won't be available until the end of June. (term ends mid-June). I will be sure to compose an extra statement and offer additional recommendations. Does anyone know the actual numbers from Brown? Were 150/800 accepted, or what? I was under the impression that they annually welcome 200 transfer students.
