brown transfer

Hi everybody,

I am currently a freshman at a private university in PA.
My tentative GPA is a 3.83.

I am looking at the following schools for transfer: brown, usc, ucla, uc berkeley, Hopkins and nyu

EC's : i am a varsity cross country/track and field runner (the program is division one) and although I have not yet spoken to the coaches it is probable that I would be recruited. I am involved in the college democrats student organization. i am also holding a work study job in the foreign exchange program. ( i also have a whole slew of ec's from high school such as captain of xc and track teams, running mvp awards including local and state recognition, student body representative, model un, national honor society, ap scholar etc.)

My sats from high school are as follows:
CR - 740
Math - 700
Writing - 760 and i am retaking them along with the ACT.

i am also confident that i can write an exceptional essay.

I attended a very competitive private high school that sent 10/56 kids in the class to ivies. My school did not release class rankings.

the only thing that I think would hold me back is my high school GPA, it is somewhere around a 3.2.

The college I go to now does not have a strong concentration in the major I would like to pursue and I am definitely transferring. I was wondering if anybody could project my chances for me at the previously mentioned schools? and also tell me whether or not it would be better for my chances to apply as a sophomore transfer or to apply in the freshman pool.

also, my uncle went to brown, dont know if this helps??

Thank you so much to anyone who can help!

You are a strong applicant: just try to get that GPA to a 3.9+ by end of the semester.

The fine print is that most applicants in the Transfer Pool will be strong applicants as well…
so find your hook!

You absolutely should applying in the Transfer pool.

good luck!

thank you!
so you dont think my high school gpa will be a major inhibiter?

It is probably your weakest point, but it is also something now out of your control. Since you are a Sophomore Transfer, your High School GPA will be weighted higher than you would like. Therefore you need to prove yourself. Crack down on academics this year!

Good luck!

i will. thank you so much for your help
