Brown U

Brown app says
If you selected PLME (A.B. & M.D. or Sc.B. & M.D.) and you are an Early Decision applicant: If your Early Decision application to the PLME is not successful in December, do you still want to be considered as an applicant to The College under our binding early decision program?

Is it a good idea to say no??

Only say yes if you would want to go to Brown as a non-PLME student. If you say yes, you will be bound to go (since it's ED), even if you're not accepted to PLME.

If you say yes, you will be re-evaluated as a non-PLME student for ED. If you say no, I am guessing that instead they will re-evaluate you as a non-PLME student for RD.

OK guys- having a senior moment here. Please help with the PLME acronym...

Program in Liberal Medical Education

Ahhhhhh, thanks.

I thought no means you wont be binded by the ED program and u can apply anywhere else!

It also means they won't give you a decision early. You'd be deferred.

An Early Decision applicant who also indicates a desire to be considered for entry into the PLME may be admitted in December to both The College and the PLME. However, some students may be selected for admission to The College but not the PLME. The College Admission Office realizes that these students may not wish to be admitted to The College under a binding early decision program if they are not also admitted to the PLME. Hence, the Office asks all PLME applicants to indicate whether they wish to be considered under a binding early decision plan if they are not admitted to the PLME.

Those who answer "yes" (but are not admitted to the PLME), may be admitted, deferred or denied. Those who are admitted are bound under the early decision agreement; they may or may not be admitted to the PLME in April. Those who are deferred may be admitted into the PLME in April under a nonbinding program. Those who are denied will not be considered again.

Another thing. I am filling the Brown application online and it says that the deadline has passed(on the left it says deadline for RD is Jan 2006) whats wrong?

You're probably filling out last year's application?
They might not have finished updating the site for the new app yet.

But it says that ED is due Nov 2005 and RD Jan 2006?!

I know, but they might not have updated the portion that keeps telling you the deadline's passed.
