Brown University Class of 2019 RD Applicants

I’m also able to RSVP to like, sex week and cuddles and ice cream… Can anyone else RSVP from their acc on the portal? Curiosity is REALLY killing the cat. @fizzy110‌ @bluemeringue‌

LOL @jazzdancer, I need to check out this bear sync thing when I get home -

wat if those extra are from the ED admits?

There’s nothing there – no notifications, nothing in the calendar, no emails. So can’t RSVP. I do think it’s a very good sign for those who have emails stating “Dear Brown Student” … pretty bad news here, however. Very sad.

Last year brown admitted 2600 approx including ED I believe

@S0U10H03‌ I don’t know why I’m on the list because I wasn’t ED at all. AFAIK, Brown admitted 617 students and this figure here is well above a thousand, inching close to 2000 with the most recent one. Oh well, only time will tell.

I can RSVP for things but I don’t have any messages.

@bluemeringue, this is the first time most of us have even heard about this brown sync thing, considering jazzdancer has already logged in before, the system may have just recognized her as an active member or something. idk, i don’t know technology that well.

But again I think it’s best to avoid speculation, it does absolutely nothing - it won’t change what you see on the 31st, just causes unnecessary stress.

@bluemeringue‌ don’t lose hope. I assumed stuff for so many colleges that I won’t make it at all because of weird portal glitches and somehow, I did. And right now, I’m not assuming that I made it in either. I’m still as nervous as I was yesterday.

It says that only so called “Brown community members”-which is very ambiguous term- can have access to the Bear Sync portal, and prospective students can browse student activities in Brown through disparate link. I think it is good news for everyone who can log into the Bear Sync no matter the invitation.

@mlegoldstein‌ check if you get emails henceforth iffff this is the first time you logged into bearsync. I have a hunch that Im getting mails because my first mail came just about 2 weeks after I first logged into BearSync before my interview.

@jazzdancer2102‌ I will keep you updated!

Can some people not log in at all?

@jazzdancer2102‌ Can you post the whole messages of the mail you received here? Was it about admission or just random notifications about student organization?

I could log in and update my profile. My photo posted upside down. Perhaps that’s a bad sign too!

None about admission @kohwalsh‌lol

Best,

SAO

This was one.
@fizzy110‌ I think what you’re saying could be correct. It might have recognized me as an active member because I logged in once and then I received these emails so the system might just be reallllyy stupid.

I just tried sending a mail to my Brown email address which I found out in my Bear Sync profile but the mail system returned it saying that such address does not exist. Well, guess this portal thing means nothing at least for me right now.

@kohwalsh‌ I am somehow able to send emails to people at Brown from that ID - just not to myself from another email! Another myth busted - we all just need to wait.

@kohwalsh‌ the email IDs get activated only in June http://www.brown.edu/academics/college/orientation/about/activating-your-brown-email-account so even admitted/ not admitted students cant do anything about it till summer and all the deposit stuff is over. Im having moods like a freaking cosine curve right now.

@jazzdancer2102‌ Yeah I feel exactly the same too. Hope we all make it till the end

Yea it says emails don’t get activated until after you accept admission, which would include paying your enrollment deposit.
