no, I meant that nobody else from my school is probably applying.
I’m the only one from my school applying…however, no one in my school has ever gotten into anywhere more prestigious than NYU. I’m hoping that might help me a little bit!
Half the kids at my school don’t even continue on to college…literally…56% didn’t last year…so going ivy would be crazy!
I think around 10-12 kids from my school are applying(every year around 5-10 kids from my school go to an ivy), gonna be super competitive!
I am the first to go to an Ivy since someone from my school went to Brown in 2006 (was an athletic recruit). We very rarely get any accepted to Ivy’s. The last one was accepted to Harvard in 2012 and he turned it down and stayed in state since he was so crushed he didn’t get into his dream school - MIT. So grateful to be able to go to Brown and the PLME. It’s a dream, literally. Best of luck to everyone in the RD round!
Do I count if I got deferred ED
ED deferee here, guess I’m in the RD round now
I don’t know how I feel about being deferred. I internalized it as a soft rejection, so my passion for brown has waned slightly. Still keeping hope alive though.
6 kids in my high school class of 170 are applying. i’m pretty sure i have the 4th highest SAT in the class (2260), and we’ve already sent kids to Uchicago (2370), dartmouth (2250), harvard (2270), and cornell (idk but probably in the 2000’s ) this year. I think i’ve got a good shot
i got deferred from tulane which i thought was weird, but thats probably because i sent in my application like 15 days late lmao. probably wont be able to go because its too far away
that’s a very reasonable reaction
You certainly won’t get rejected because of your score but that’s about all an SAT score does.
lol Browns a reach for me but I love the open-curriculum and talked about that in my essay. Also, I heard that since I applied as a math major, my chances would increase slightly, provided I show passion for math
I think I’m the only one applying to Brown from my school. Most kids tend to only apply to instate colleges.
Has anyone gotten the application portal yet? I have gotten portals to a few schools, but not Brown.
@bendaboo i’m in the same boat. I submitted on the 24th and still have not gotten the portal. Then again, the admissions office has been closed for the last two weeks, so I bet they are just beginning to send out the portals in the next few days. Good luck everyone!
@bendaboo @T41997 during the early decision round a lot of people didn’t get them until ≈2 weeks after the application deadline
I think the only people who have portals are those who applied before Brown’s winter vacation. I applied the 9th, and since they probably didn’t have overly many applications in at that point, I got my portal the next day. They’re probably working now to catch up with all the applications that were submitted over the holiday. I wouldn’t worry about it.
Haha yeah I am waiting for my portal still! I know that Brown is working on it!
me too!
reassuring to hear others waiting for portals; I know two girls anxiously waiting.
Got deferred along with everyone else who applied at my school. Eagerly awaiting March and I still have some hope, but I don’t think it’ll be a positive decision… At this point, it’s just a waiting game!
