****Brown University Class of 2021 Regular Decision Thread****

31 ACT (31E, 29M, 31R, 31 S)

Everyone is a good candidate but we will all end up where we are destined to be!

36 ACT (36 E, 34 M, 36 E, 36 S)

1500 new SAT (720E 780M)
Do you think perfect scores on all AP’s and SAT subject tests I’ve taken will have a good effect on my application?

@ED1998 Obviously, of course, it will. I mean, 800 is better than 500, and 5 is better than 3, score-wise, right?

Curiosity again. What are you all’s W & UW GPAs? My W is 4.47 and UW is 3.98 ( because of 1 B! :(( ).

4.0UW 4.81W (4.79W before mid-year grades). Yeah I perform much better in class than on timed tests (my test anxiety is REAL). And I’m valedictorian but my school doesn’t report official rank :frowning:

But if I have a 34 superscore/32 single will it look like my school has grade inflation?

@RUHTRA999 no I mean, lets say my GPA sucks but my SAT Subs. and AP are perfect scores does it help in that case… Are these things that important.

@ED1998 It’ll help but it won’t fully compensate for a lackluster GPA. GPA is usually the best predictor of college success, so…

@ap012199 I go to school in India. So courses are usually all American College Leve. We dont have a GPA system so idk my GPA. but i can tell you this… 9-10th 95%+ then a huge dip in 11th (88.2% though my class rank was very high), and so far in 12th 93%.
Do you think these stats amount to a good GPA?

@ED1998 the dip in 11th will hurt, but I think those grades would probably translate to a 3.5-3.7. I’m just eyeballing, though.

@ap012199 that seems like a pretty weak GPA…

@ED1998 idk… to accurately find out your GPA, one would need to know exactly what percent you received in each of your classes. But, for example, if half of your grades are in the 90s and half are in the 80s, that would translate to a 3.5 GPA.

Lol I never got contacted for an interview (which I
Was 100% ok with) until last night. I received an email asking if I could arrange an interview for tomorrow morning because reports are due tomorrow evening. Wtf. Literally wtf.

I politely declined lol

@ap012199 Im pretty sure just taking an ap exam doesnt mean the same as taking an AP/Honors class so my UW and W GPA would also be identical?

@ED1998 you’re correct about that, but since officers will look at everything based on what was provided at your school, it doesn’t matter if other people from other places have higher weighted GPA or what not. If you are at the top of your own class, then your GPA shouldn’t be detrimental to your app.

“I politely declined lol”

Bad move.

My friend got in with full financial aid with a 1240 SAT and a 580 subject test, but incredibly moving essays and supplements. Brown is looking at who you are, not necessarily your numbers!

@DryMango you should have made a really good excuse instead of just declining lol
