This might provide some insight as to where transfers come from as well as what Brown is looking for. Most of the schools listed are 4 year schools but there are a few CC schools as well. And the list is just a sample of the 218 school total.
My personal opinion is that a 4 year school probably gives you a better shot. It gives you an opportunity to demonstrate you can do well with a rigorous course load and handle the transition to living in a residential college. You may also discover that you really like the school youāre attending and decide not to pursue a transfer. It does take work during the time youāre acclimating to a new school.
Iām sure others on this website might hold a different impression. And ultimately with an acceptance rate of around 7% youāre much more likely to end up at BU.
Your biggest obstacle may be your HS GPA because if you apply with only one semester of college grades completed your HS transcript carries greater weight.
Another question, do you require FA? If yes, then yes that might negatively affect your transfer chances with Brown as well. There are just so many factors. You canāt really plan it out with any certainty.
As long as cost isnāt a factor, I would choose the 4 year school you want to attend out of those youāve been admitted to, work hard for a stellar GPA, get to know your professors so theyāll write a great LOR, get involved on campus and take your best shot with Brown, knowing BU is your back up if you want it.
