Brown University Fall 2021 Transfer Thread

Sure, I’d to love to share! Sorry, I meant to post it earlier yesterday but got caught up a bit. :stuck_out_tongue:

So basically, I spoke with an admissions officer and they said that the ones released two days ago were only a small portion of decisions. I was told they hadn’t finished reviewing all applications yet, so there are lots of decisions that haven’t been made/finalized. They also said that they were rolling out the decisions in phases over the next few weeks and that they would send me an email when mine was available. I really love Brown–it was by far the nicest answer I’d gotten from any admissions office.

Sending you all the positive vibes in the world as well!! :hugs:

Thank you for confirming! Congratulations again! :hugs:

Also it looks like they got over 2700 transfer apps this year according to the acceptance letter.

Seems in line with all the increased apps during the freshman admissions cycle. Everyone is taking their shot. Thanks for sharing that info. Definitely helps in managing expectations lol.

TBH I was hoping their # would be lower compared to similar schools (HYPSM etc.) b/c Brown only allowed few exceptions to the standardized tests (military & 2-year students I think) even then Brown states: “American citizens or U.S. permanent residents applying from domestic community colleges, junior colleges or two-year colleges are permitted to apply without submitting SAT or ACT scores. However, these applicants fare better in our admission process if they do submit the results of those tests.”

My hope was because of that fewer people would apply = more people will get in. Even though I got in, I’m still wondering what the overall acceptance rate will be this year. I hope they accept more people this year than last year. Hoping for the best for everyone!

I had originally thought that as well but there are a lot people that have been cooped up for many months. Lots of time to write applications lol.

Congratulations to you! We have many Brown alums in my family…very special place!

When do we think decisions will be released?

how many docs do people have in their financial aid checklists? does anyone have a recent date shown on the fin aid portal? looks like a new document was added to mine yesterday

nothing recent on mine

Where can we locate the financial aid checklist?

Does anyone know what to do if I have enrollment deposits due before mid May? I called the Brown office of admissions and mid May was their best estimate. I just sent an email to the transfer contact too

You can ask for an extension or you can pay the deposit on your first choice while you wait for the rest of your decisions.

On your applicant status portal, there should be a section on the right-hand side just below the application checklist. It says “To view your Financial Aid application status, please visit [Banner Self-Service]. If you have trouble logging in, please contact the IT Service Center at (401) 863-4357.”

Click the link for the Banner Self-Service and you’ll see information about your financial aid.
