My S is a junior at Brown. We compared financial aid packages from Swarthmore, Wash U, and Pomona with Brown’s, and sad to say, Brown’s was the least generous. The primary difference was in the amount of loan he is expected to take out over four year: he will have to borrow approximately 24,000 while that figure would have been approximately 16,000 at Pomona and Swarthmore. I am not sure what he would have dealt with at Wash U, but I suspect it would have been less. The amount of loan does vary at Brown according to the family income.

Brown has been a wonderful place for my son, and I have no regrets about spending the extra money. We anticipate trying to help him with his loans when he graduates, especially since he is unlikely to be employed in some lucrative field.
