Brown University....hopefully?

Ok so, I really want to go to Brown University to study creative writing. But I'm only a high school freshmen so basicly I'm asking if I'm on the right track. I am a hispanic female that lives near boston. I go to a public school and take mostly all honors classes. Yes I have As in these classes as well. So I'm on the Varsity Swim and Dive team (I dive), the Varsity Gymnastics team(hopefully I'll hear back from them soon) and I do year round gymnastics, thats all I have for sports. For clubs, I do Dance Club, and Book Club.I am hoping to take Latin after I finish off my spanish courses which should be quickly since I speak Spanish. But am I on the right track? I'm the oldest child and my parents aren't uptight when it comes to education, so I have no idea. Do I even have a shot? And the last and most important question is am I crazy to even try?

You might have a chance.

Woah. this is what you gotta do.
Get a 2250+ on your SAT. Or a 34+ on your ACT.
Do a research internship over the summer EACH YEAR from now on. These research internships should be at a magazine or a newspaper company, since you’re interested in creative writing.
Do plenty of volunteer work and community outreach. Tutor kids in reading/writing.
Start clubs that you’re interested in, be active on your high school campus.
Make sure you get straight A’s. Take rigorous courses.
If you’re getting all A’s and you’re a freshmen, you’re on the right track. Now all you need to do is everything I told you. And then some.
It’s good that you’re thinking ahead though. And believe in yourself. You can get into Brown! Why not? What don’t you have that others do? You can do this. Just stay focused on your goals.

chance back please.

It is too early, don’t worry and enjoy high school, since freshman year is truly the year where you don’t have to deal with anything college admissions related. Pursue ECs you like, not just ones that you think will look good on a resume, get good grades and once again enjoy high school.

“Get a 2250+ on your SAT. Or a 34+ on your ACT.”

What makes people think that this is the translation. Do people not see that this does not account that super scoring can easily peoples SAT score by 100 points? Yes maybe if you were to take the test once 2250=34, but that isn’t the way admissions sees it.

yea, wallrus75, they superscore.
the point i was trying to make was…do well on your standardized tests. You can’t deny a 34 or 2250 helps with the application.

She is asking what she needs, not what helps. Why don’t you suggest a 36 and a 2400 then coupled with a Siemens Competition national finalist and a 4.0, President of NHS, and tripple season captain?

Sorry to kind of hijack this thread, but does Brown have the best computer science program of all the Ivies? OP, focus on doing well in school, be committed, and work hard. Then you will have zero regrets :)

Okay, I suggest you get a 36 ACT and a 2400 on your SAT with a Siemens Competition national finalist and a 4.0, president of NHS, and triple* season captain.
This is what you need.

@darthpwner: Brown, Princeton, & Cornell are all very strong in computer science.
