Hi im a sophomore in high school going into Junior year next year. I have just finished filling out my application form for the pre college program I have not yet pressed the submit button : ( I dont know if i will get accepted or not… As of now my GPA is 92 and I am taking all honors classes including one AP class. My recommendation letters will be strong because my art + math teachers loves me lol. I applied for ‘Mathematical Forms in Architecture’ because i want to be an architect. The problem is I got a C+ for bio first quarter this year, however i managed to increase my grade upto B+ in second quarter and I am keeping a solid A as of now. No doubt my parents will pay for the tuition if i get accepted… Is there any chance of me getting in? btw im not a citizen of US cause i was born in France.

I’d put the chances of you getting in at 95-100%. Really, don’t worry about it. Pre-college is not that selective. Even if you kept your C+, it would not prevent you from getting in.

You will get in :)

As sad as it is to say, these programs are all about generating revenue and increasing interest in the school (hence more future applicants, therefore more future rejections, therefore higher selectivity rate, therefore higher rank…etc etc). As long as your essays are written in complete sentences, and your teacher recs don’t expose, like, a heroin problem or something, you should be good to go.

Note: I am not saying Summer@Brown isn’t a great program – it is! I did a three week mini course as a sopohomore and learned a ton / had the time of my life. Just don’t be naive about what it really is, haha.

Cheers!
