Brown University Transfer

Okay guys, so here it is. I started filling out applications for college back in August of Senior Year. I was in good standing as a student (3.94 UW/4.50 W, good ACT Scores, tons of EC's, 3 Varsity Sports, etc), but I was under the worst impression I could be under. That impression was that the essays on college apps didn't really matter that much. Being the naive student that I was, I thought my GPA, sports, and scores would get me pretty much anywhere I wanted to go. After being rejected to Brown, Northwestern, Columbia, USC, and waitlisted at Colorado College, I realized I screwed up. Since the essays don't matter as much for the state universities, I got in to every school that I labeled as my 'safety' with big scholarships at each school. Now that the fall semester is right around the corner, I will be attending the University of Colorado-Boulder (Honors Program, Presidential Scholarship, Diving Team, etc). I loved the campus, the vibe, and the people, I just don't think it's where I'm meant to go to school. I am already starting my application to transfer to Brown University (the one school I truly fell in love with) and I am just wondering what I can do to show Brown that I messed up when applying as a Senior and that I am a strong candidate for admission.

I took the ACT twice and got a 31 both times

I won't be applying for financial aid (I know they are need-aware)

I plan on getting the best grades I can possibly get this year at Boulder to help me get to Brown, as well as joining a volunteer group, many clubs, dive team.

What is some advice (any successful/unsuccessful Brown transfers or just transfers in general) on how to look the most appealing to Brown as a transfer?

I don’t think that you will get accepted. I mean, I did a lot better than that and I got rejected. Then again, I applied for financial aid.

I think you have a good chance of admission if your essays are excellent! Good luck!
