Hey y'all, I need all of your help with this one. Brown vrs Duke, given full scholarship for both. I just want to know anything at all that will help with my decision... from dining hall food to residential halls to the campus environment and just... anything to compare with. I've spent 2 wks pondering over these 2 already so please... pease let me hear from you all.

as shown here, 78% of those who get into both brown and duke choose brown.

Brown is more prestigious(that's the only factor I consider)

I know Brown is Ivy and all but apart from that factor... I plan on doing premed. I want to know more about the atmosphere in both schools.

As far as Ranking is concerned, Brown is way way behind Duke. Both in Times and US News Ranking.

Browns over Duke? No kidding. Brown, the lowest ranking in the Ivies. What a pitty

I don't know much about being pre-med at Duke, but being pre-med at Brown is fantastic. The competition is never cut-throat because by virtue of the open curriculum each student is automatically distinguished from the others by their transcript (since you choose your own classes, everyone's transcript is unique). I got to know the other pre-meds fairly well over my years at brown and they are (almost) all friendly, fantastic people. Organic Chemistry, which pre-meds elsewhere hate, is one of the best taught classes at Brown with one of the most loved professors. And at the end of the day, Brown places students very well into top medical schools.

Currently, I advise pre-meds at Harvard this experienced has confirmed in my mind how lucky I was to be a pre-med at Brown.

Other folks can talk about Duke, but if you have any other questions about Brown let me know.

From what I've heard about Brown, I completely agree with dcircle. If you're going for pre-med, go for Brown.
I think it would be best if you could visit both campuses before making your final decision, but that may not be feasible as an international student.
