Brown's math vs Cornell's math?

Why not apply to both and see which you get into (if any) (and with sufficient financial aid, if needed)?

Are you attempting to decide which one to apply to ED or EA?

It’s for ED, sorry for not mentioning it

Since you do not have a clear first choice, do you really want to apply ED anywhere?

If you have no clear first choice (they are both outstanding schools), then compare your stats to their averages for admittance, and apply to the one where you think you have the best chance. Personally, I am a huge fan of Brown. Love the open curriculum.

I’ve read a lot about both colleges and I like them both a lot, but in the end it all resumes to which one is better at applied math, and that’s the only info I can’t find in any ranking or stadistic

Take a look at the course catalogs to see if either of them offers significantly more interesting math and related courses (i.e. whatever the field of application is) that you would take as an undergraduate.

Also, compare graduation requirements. Brown is known for having no breadth requirements; check Cornell to see if its breadth requirements are something you would like or find acceptable.

Also consider the location and non campus life of each and which you would be happier and fit more in at. Cornell is in a relatively rural area and the campus is open and hilly while brown lies right in a city.

Did you read about the applied math programs at each school?
[Applied Mathematics Department - Brown University](http://www.dam.brown.edu/) - Brown Division of Applied Math
[Center for Applied Mathematics](http://www.cam.cornell.edu/) - Cornell Center for Applied Math

I think these are both excellent and are extremely hard to get into. So don’t waste too much time trying to figure out if one is 0.00001% better than the other.
