Cornell is the most well-rounded private university. Well, tied with stanford i guess, although stanford lacks some stuff that cornell has, such as hotel and Ag. Both have top law and business, top in natural sciences, health fields, and engineering. the only universities that can compare are berkeley and umichigan. going to uchicago i can say that we arent as well rounded due to no engineering program. harvard and yale aren't as well, lacking strong engineering too (here comes posterX's cue for why yale is the best engineering in the country).

Bescraze man, you really gotta care about Cornell a lot; how much time do you spend in this forum trying to prove your weird arguments about it being less than the other ivies? Stop for a second, get out of the fight you have and try to think about it.........you really think that a university that is well known in the entire world, that has amazing programs in many fields, that internationally has much more prestige than some of the ivies and that gives unbelievable opportunities to a lot of people, can be consider what you say...

Man, think about it. I know that for some reason you enjoy it, but it makes no sense.

now that I think about it, this guy, Bescraze, spends over half of his entire posts on his account dissing corenll. He has no affiliation with this university as a hs student, yet, for him to go this far, bringing weird arguments and stepping out of line as to launching ad hominem attacks against cornell posters on almost all Cornell threads clearly show his agenda.

^ And his arguments are usually unfounded. But this thread has become so off topic. Cornell is one of the best universities in the world. Brown is too. And with the exception of Bescraze, people in the real world do not think of one as superior to the other. The OP's brother has a great choice to make, and he can;t go wrong if he picks Cornell :)

"coolman123 its ok your wrong, it happens.
Commonly considered IVy rankings:
HYP
Penn/ Columbia
Dartmouth/Brown (some people say lower, but most here)
Cornell (have a nice day in Ithaca.)"

Bescraze. This statement of yours just showed that you have no idea what your are talking about. At Princeton, we consider Dartmouth to be fourth in the Ivy league, better than Columbia at the undergrad level. We like Dartmouth because it is inferior to us in the way that Yale is inferior to Harvard. Penn, what's that? Isn't that the cousin of Penn State.

No... you must be confusing it with Penn State Erie, Behrand College.

The Penn in Philly is really just some ol' community college. I hear they offer some decent courses in the repair of Bloomberg terminals, though.

LOL! I nearly choked while drinking my coffee on that one... ;)

Wow. Are you guys really making fun of Penn? I live right near it, and it happens to be one of the best community colleges in the city.

That explains why Mike Bloomberg just spoke at Penn's commencement.

Can Penn guys fix my Blingberg though? Some rhinestones popped off...:)

Bingo. The biggest computer terminal salesman/repairman of them all.

That said, it could be worse. You could have been given a dry academic lecture that left your grandma confused, asleep, and drooling like the folks up in Beantown were subject to.

Don't forget a hockey team. You aren't a true University until you have a hockey team. Stanford's founding president, of all people, should have known this.

What are you, some sort of Muggle???

i'm amused how much USnews has helped UPenn, historically, Cornell has always been known as one of the better ivies, Penn is often at the bottom of the ivy league.

It's USNRW. It has put Duke at the fourth place within the past decade. So Penn's place on it is no surprise. Take that, MIT and Stanford. I think you got ruled by a basketball team and a "state-school" (in the words of 23% of high school guidance councilors). Perhaps the outdated HYPSM should be changed to HYPDP. The D refers to Duke of course.

Or, you are only a real university when you can count Ken Dryden as an alum.

"Wow. Are you guys really making fun of Penn? I live right near it, and it happens to be one of the best community colleges in the city."

You have to admit that Penn is only the second best in the city after its prestigious neighbor Drexel, which gives out ten full-ride scholarships at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair every year.

You can't forget how Penn's practically in the ghetto compared to Drexel, too.

I would take Brian Cropper, too.

No we aren't. Who in their right mind would make fun of the prestigious research university that considers it's undergrad programs the as main competitors of those at Princeton?

Sorry, having Stephen Colbert as an alum is the ultimate alum connection!
