Which would be better overall? I’m planning to visit both, but would still appreciate all the input. THANKS!

Hmmm.... That's a tough choice, since both are really great schools. But you should tell us a little bit about yourself:
-What do plan to major in?
-Where are you from? Would you feel more comfortable in New England or in North Carolina? (though many of Duke's students come from the Northeast...)
-What activities do you want to do in college?
-What kind of campus community are you looking for?
etc.

And congratulations!!

THANKS!

As of right now I'm not too sure what I want to major in. I am however leaning towards political science (having been asked 'what are you going to study', has forced me into choosing...), and I'm definately minoring/double majoring in languages.
I'm from Texas. I'm from a major city (houston), so I'm not really sure how different the smaller town thing is going to be. But since both Brown and Duke are in relatively small cities, I don't see location as being a major deciding factor..unless I'm missing something...
Community: I'm definately looking for a school with school spirit (which I know Duke has). I also lean more towards liberal, but I've gotten mixed reviews regarding how liberal both these colleges are. Is Duke really that conservative?

I hope that info was useful. and thanks for the response!

Brown is Ivy Trash..
Go Duke!!

thanks...anyone else want to comment?

It's a huge advantage in my mind that Brown has so few requirements.

I agree with suze that Brown's open curriculum can be helpful, especially for those not sure of their major at the time of enrollment.

I would go to Brown because it has that undergraduate atmosphere to it. The campus is beautiful and is closely knit, and it seems like a place where everyone is nice and willing to help. The no core thing is great too.
Duke has its imposing towers and from what I've heard, the people there aren't exactly the most outgoing; some are rich white elitists (hey! it's from what i HEARD). I'm speaking from a unbiased view, since I got rejected by Brown and accepted by Duke.

Both are great schools, but I'm going to Columbia! wohoo! lol

thanks everyone for the responses!

Brown is.....my favorite school :(

and they rejected me :tear:

im sry slic...their acceptance took me by complete surprise. i hope u got accepted at another great college!

none for duke?

well, IF I had gotten in to both I would have visited and decided but since brown made that decision for me, I'm going to duke!

Go Blue Devils!

both are amazing schools. visit and read their college profiles. congratulations :)
