Brown vs. Georgetown

Hey,

I was accepted to both Brown and to Georgetown SFS. Any recommendations on what I should choose? I’m planning on a liberal arts major, probably in the field of IR.

I’m from RI, so the choice is rendered more difficult because I have the urge to leave the state.

Well if its International Relations, Georgetown SFS is the place to be.

The urge to leave the home state is good. SFS is literally the best place if you're hardcore on IR. The total size of SFS is 1500 kids spanning all four years. This makes for extremely small classes with superb faculty. The only problem with SFS is that it's really rigid; you can't get a second major or minor outside SFS. DC is also a better location than Providence for hardcore IR people.

Brown is a lot more liberal in terms of majors and double majors and minors since you craft your own curriculum. If you want to get a second major or minor, or study something in depth outside majors offered by SFS, Brown may be a better choice.

Both are excellent: congrats!
