Brown vs. JHU

Okay, so I applied ED to Brown and then was deferred and then got accepted yesterday. Such a long proccess. But I also got into Johns Hopkins and was awarded the Hodson Trust Scholarship ($26,500 a year for for years). Which school is better for international relations? That is what I know I want to pursue academically. Which school is better socially? I don’t know, I need some advice.

Congrats on being accepted, especially considering how much lower the acceptance rate is for deferred applicants than for regular decision applicants.
One of my intended majors is international relations, so I've looked into the program at Brown extensively, although I don't know very much about the program at Johns Hopkins.
Brown's IR program is good not great. Foreign Policy magazine ranked it as #19 in the country in 2009, #17 in '07; interestingly enough, JHU was ranked #17 in '09 and #19 in '07. It seems to me that rankings that close are kindof irrelevant (similar to how a #20 school on USNWR isn't necessarily better than a #25), so I would suggest making the choice based more on the atmosphere, which has a better location in your opinion, which seems to offer better study abroad opportunities, etc etc.
