Brown vs Northwestern

Hey, so I’ve been extremely lucky and was accepted to Northwestern and waitlisted by Brown. I was just wondering if it is worth staying on Brown’s waitlist (going through the whole process of writing a letter etc) if I already have a place at Northwestern. The two schools are extremely different, I know, and I do like them both a lot. I think I was just wondering, degree-wise which one I would get the most out of (and which one is more highly regarded). I’d be double majoring in econ and comp sci at NU, and would probably go down a similar route at Brown.

I know I haven’t been accepted to Brown yet but I was wondering if maybe I should just call it a day and commit to NU because at the moment, if by any chance I came off Brown’s waitlist, I don’t know if I’d pick it over NU.

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

One point of view regarding “which one is more highly regarded” is offered by US News rankings. Another point of view is that one is an Ivy.

For a double major in economics & computer science, Northwestern is outstanding.

Bluntly speaking, you have presented only one realistic option.

Because you applied, you certainly have the right to remain on Brown’s waitlist, and you should do so or you may always wonder “what if”.

I would just commit to NU.

They are peers. Go to NU and congrats!

You will need to commit to a school because you may not hear from about the waitlist, if you do accept your spot, until well after May 1st.

Congrats on NU! It’s a fabulous school! For your interests, I think better than Brown…
