I got waitlisted at Brown and I just have some questions.

What can I do at this point to improve my chances of getting off the waitlist?

Should I send them additional recommendation letters or call them?

Should I send them additional recommendation letters or call them?

How do you put your name on the waitlist?

I have heard that writing a letter of continued interest is the best way to get off the waitlist! Best of luck to both of us :)

I see. By the way did you apply for financial aid?

I did! And how do we put our name on the waitlist??

All you have to do is send them an email that you are still interested or call them I guess.

Grrr! I think someone in the office mentioned something about a reply card. Maybe they are mailing them to us??

Never heard of that.

Dear xxxxxx,

The Board of Admission was impressed by your application and has voted to place your name on our Waiting List. As disappointing as this decision may be for you, I sincerely hope that you will maintain your interest in Brown.

We have offered admission to a small number of transfer candidates, but not so many, we believe, as to make it impossible for us to admit some applicants from the Waiting List.

If you wish further consideration of your application, please let us know within the next two weeks by writing us a letter or contacting us via email at transferapp@brown.edu. If you do so, the Board will automatically consider your application for any and every position that becomes available. If the Board votes to offer you admission, you will be notified by mail. We intend to notify all applicants on the Waiting List of a final decision by mid-June. If at any point you wish to withdraw your application from active consideration on our Waiting List, please let us know as soon as possible.

We believe that you do have special qualities to offer Brown, and so it is disheartening that we are unable to recognize your accomplishments more fully at this time. You may be sure that even if only one applicant can be selected from our Waiting List, your application will be thoroughly reviewed. Thank you for taking the time to prepare such a thoughtful application and thank you for your interest in Brown.

Yours sincerely,

James S. Miller
Dean of Admission

This was the letter online. Now they removed it and it just says “Admission decisions are currently not available.”
