Brown's Ballroom Dance Team

Anyone on CC on the Team? How do you like it? How many people were on the team this year? # of Men? # of Women?

just go to their website

I did go to their website...I was hoping to get some student opinions who participated in it.

im on the team! i love it :) our coach is wonderful. and after being to more than 10 competitions, i can attest to the fact that we're the happiest team around. we dont put the emphasis on winning ribbons, and the team is very fun and social.

there's about 40ish people? though there's definitely a group of 20ish that are around more often than others. the men are very much fewer than the girls. i cant give exact figures cos i dont know for sure who are still in and just have been busy lately, but here goes my rough estimate. bronze level dancers: 4-5 boys, maybe a dozen girls, silver level: 8 -10 boys, about 20 girls. and yeah i know the numbers dont add up. there are people drifting around. and some people who dont compete and are still a part of the team.

Thank You! My d is thinking about joining the team in the fall. She thought, as a freshman, it might be a good way to meet people. She has been taking International Latin for a couple of years now..just 1x a week and loves it. She went to a couple of competitions, but if you are not in college the expense is outrageous...one competition cost me over $2000.00!!

competitions cost us $30 each, inclusive of food and transport, cos its heavily subsidized by the team. we go for 8 competitions each year, 4 each semester, though we get to choose which ones we want to go for, depending on our schedule. i can imagine it'll cost alot more without a team, especially for costumes and extra practice and classes but 2000 is so ridiculous, wow! taking international latin for a couple years might put her in a different category from most newcomers, perhaps bronze or silver. but i guess she'll still be with the newcomers for american smooth, international standard and american rhythm.
