22 colleges?
You are like some of my crazy friends who can't make up their mind about what they want to do. They applied to Art Schools, Design Schools and then Academic Schools.

My twin brother applied to 19 schools, while I applied to 6 or so. He wanted "options."

i know what I want to do Poli sci+medicine, I'm just conflicted over the best way to approach my goal. I figure I'll make a decision when I have letters in hand, that being said I have some clear preferences

I did the 6 schools thing. My friends said I had no safety, oops. Up till Wed I was considering what sort of strings I would have to pull to get coaches to get me into their college if I happened to get rejected everywhere.

Options, shmoptions I ruled down my "options" before I applied to places. Too much work for my teachers to fill out that many apps so I just tried to make them all short and sweet. They basically didn't fill out the app anyways and wrote a personal letter. But whatever I just don't understand how someone could apply to almost 20 schools. AHHHHHHHHHH, mental overload. :)

my teachers didnt fill anything out, I did, they just signed and attached a letter.

and yes it was a huge mental overload, I have several excel spreadsheets with all of the data I needed on it. It was seriously like a part time job at times what with all colleges doing everything differently!

I could manage it, theoretically. I just didn't want to put myself through it, I am antagonizing right now enough that any more might be enough to make my head explode.

I applied to many schools like you, sempitern. Well, I only applied to 14 in comparison to your 22, but I definitely know what you mean by it being "a huge mental overload." It was so hard to keep track of everything and all the financial aid forms made it even more confusing.

Ah, you guys rock - thanks for replying.

It's a relief to know they "consider" standardized test scores. What does it mean by "talent/ability"? Is it if you excell at some instrument, sport, so forth? o_O Or do you just have to be plain good at everything? Geographical location too... if you lived closer to Brown, is that an advantage?

Anyways! For the character/personal bit, that would mean the interview WOULD be a plus, right? And to be as expressive as possible on the essay... allright! Thanks again! Looking foward to applying to Brown come senior year - I've already seen their campus and been around, it's beautiful! :]

talent or ability would be if you were amazing at a sport of extracurricular activity. The nearness of your location is most likely a detriment, they are more likely to accept some kids from podunksville, Idaho than someone nearby just because they was geographical diversity as well as racial diversity. There will be many from the North East, but that doesn't make it easier to get in.
Character personal part could also mean what parts of you show through in your essays.

Actually, a disproportionate ratio of acceptees come from Rhode Island, especially for PLME. comforts self lol

Yeah, I heard of the 20 PLME that got in ED this year, 15 were from RI.

Yay! I just KNEW there had to be some good reason for moving to this state 5 years ago ;)

Idaho, Wyoming, the Dakotas, you get the idea.

I think the most underrepresented state would be south dakota

(Darn South Dakota! I wanted Daschle to win!)

Ms. Bananasfoster is one awesome North Dakotan.

me too, that was so repugnant how bill frist went to campaign for thune

Ew, I know! There's just something in general about Bill Frist that really gets to me... But I really like Daschle. I mean, I like Reid too, but I though Daschle was a stronger leader.

Daschle was a strong leader and that is why republicans despised him so much

bill frist is going to run for prez in 2008

There's a single person from ND in the '08 class...Never met them to my knowledge though
