Browser Warnings on CC

I am going to guess that the Malware warnings that I saw this afternoon and evening were related to this new Campus Vibe warning across the banner. Additionally, there is an extremely annoying McDonald’s ad peeling down the upper right hand corner of the page every five seconds or so. Am hoping this is a temporary problem that will soon be fixed as it is amazingly distracting.

CT1417, yes that McDonalds thing is driving me crazy!

still cant post except on this really crappy browser called puffin.

but i never had a problem with the ads

glad I wasn’t the only one and that CC’s running smoothly again

A CC friend emailed me today because she’s having trouble posting, sending a PM and starting a thread. This was her message:
Like many others, I have had problems with logging on to CC, including a warning about malware.

"Today, I managed to send one PM but not I get the message that I need to wait 60 seconds to send another one, even 30 minutes after sending the first.

The site also tells me I have to wait 60 seconds before posting again, when I have not posted at all. I tried to post, but it did not appear as a thread."

I guess the CC administrators finally got the message that annoying ads do not encourage viewers to frequent the site. The ad is gone and I have no ad blockers.

I wonder if that ad was causing the timing and posting order issues that have been going on for a day or so.

Hopefully a CC admin with issue an update----and an apology.

I got them yesterday in Chrome, but they’ve cleared up by now.

Yeah, the problem seems to be gone on Chrome now.

I just received a private message from a CC poster who read my post above - they too are having the same problem as my friend - they cannot post or start a thread. Or respond to PM’s. (Not sure how the PM got to me, though…)

I recommend an ad blocking extension for your browser. Even so, I had warnings about malware yesterday on all my browsers for any CC discussion forum. Today they’re cleared up.

I don’t know if this is connected, but since yesterday when I log in threads are still being marked as unread even if I’ve logged in and seen them since their last edit a number of times

Don’t know if this will go through but I’m still having MAJOR issues. Couldn’t post for hours. Getting the 60 second warning. Getting this warning when sending messages: This forum requires that you wait 60 seconds between sending private messages. Please try again in 12143 seconds. It’s saying yesterday is “Today” and today’s posts say 9/29/12. What is going on here?

romani, it looks as if it’s working for you now, because your post shows “Today, 4:50 pm.” It started working for me this afternoon.

The tech person said that as of earlier today, the clock issue affected only a handful of people (me among them). She said she thought it was a local problem on these computers at this point. She told me to run a virus detection/removal program, then delete my browsing history. The anti-virus software program is still running, but I noticed that it DID quarantine a couple of things, so maybe that’s why mine is working? Who knows. The clock issue supposedly happens only rarely.

Yes, it does seem to be working now. I still can’t send messages. It wasn’t working from my phone or either laptop. :frowning:

I am from India. There was a problem till yesterday. Every time I opened a thread, it would instantly take me to Twitter home page. It happened the whole day yesterday. The problem seems to have resolved as today there is no problem with accessing the CC site.

The McDonalds ad was a technical error - the big burger chain is not a CC advertiser! Not that we don’t have a few Big Mac fans around here…

For folks that saw the McDonalds ad - was it actually blocking content? We’ve been testing some different technologies, but we certainly don’t want anything that is blocking, moving, flashing, or otherwise annoying. Thanks!

You know what is weird. I looked on my history and this is what is showing as the address for cc:

engagement?NIT= then a string of 20 numbers or so. It isn’t showing up under talk.confidential.com on my history

Thanks for sharing that information, momknowsbest3. I honestly don’t know what that means at first glance. Anyone else seeing alternative addresses for CC?

It is probably browser
